I just tried to create a new character and all the NA/EU Servers except for two were locked.

Seriously?

I want to play with my friends but Balmung is locked all the time, and I don't think it will unlock in the near future. But all of them being locked is just stupid.

Why is an MMO these days even using Servers? Just make one world with instanced zones if there are too many people.

I now made a character on an JP server just so I can play at all.

Full explanation, your server (u want or didnt) has reached its maximum for total population, example total say of 10,000 players. Wait times here can be much more frustrating to create a new character because you must wait until people delete their toon to free up space, which can be forever looking at you Gilgamesh, Leviathan, Moogle servers.

Then if you cant log-online, its because out of those 10,000 players, 8 thousands odd players are playing simultaneously, so you must wait till some of them log off the server so you can log in. These waits can be anywhere from 5 minutes to 5 hours.

They should add a "Not Ok" button to Error 1017.

ta trust me i have ppl waiting for servers to unlock so that they can actually play the game they spent money on to play. Sad when ALL servers are locked right now

the 3079 because of max amount of toons have been created on that server so it becomes locked out till people on that server delete their toons.

the 1017 error is because too many of the total players are playing simultaneously

So? I haven't been able to play my lvl 9 character on Diablo or Exodus (irony) after the first day of pre-launch. I am actually agitated with the situation now - no queue, nothing just a 1017 server full. Well kick some afk'er off and let me play. Just plain dumb atm.
