You know...I think my biggest issue isn't the whole "cant make money from it" deal...it's the other part of those new rules.

You guys also realize that, as I just said a couple posts before, even people who DON'T make money from it can't make fun videos like GMV's or those wonderful tribute videos we all love so much. Those are now breaking the rules too f.y.i.

Heck, next thing you know, fanart like Evil Siren's will be against TOS, and Denmo's comics. Because you know, that's also stealing.

It's very simple. If someone loves the game, he'll make videos of it without needing to make money off said videos.

If one doesn't love the game and just wants to make money, why should we care if he makes said videos?

It seems you guys realise this does not only kill LP'ers, but it also kill professional video critique. No professionals can do a video review of the game because of the restrictions, and that only hurts the consumers.

Um, I don't know about other countries but this isn't specific to SE. It's ALWAYS been illegal to make a profit off of someone else's work without their permission. I think it's intellectual property laws or something along those lines. You should look that up before complaining.

Honestly Draven, blame the lawyers. In the end, they're the ones who made this asinine decision, as lawyers are won't to do. Lawyers and SE upper management - I highly doubt the dev team has/had any say in it.

Draven, SE didn't say you can't upload videos - they're saying you can't make money on it. This is why people don't really appreciate or respect that community anymore since it's become purely about money.

So if you want to promote the game, you can, you just won't be making money on it. If you truly wanted to promote ARR do it outside of monetization.

Honestly, this thread is a bitch fest. If you believe it isn't, then pigs fly and greg is not an alien. SE could have gone the way George Lucas or disney does in terms of video, but they didn't. It's closer to the creative commons model. They just say you can't make money off of their intellectual property. If you disagree, really, you're against trademarks, copyrights, etc. In which case, I want claim any and all writings, drawings, programs, genetics, etc, from you and I want to use them to make a profit.

Or, there's always viral advertising and grassroots advertising. It think it'll say more about the product when people will promote something w/o getting paid than those who do. True fans will promote whether or not there's a benefit to them. Those that will when only provided with a chance to make revenue, you don't want them involved with you anyways:
