How about this: If you'd like to contribute to the conversation, try explaining your own opinion -- or in your case, even stating one -- instead of just pointing and laughing like a trolling/spamming fool. It's people like you who make it a chore to find anything worth reading on here.
The OP, you, and everyone like the two of you, don't even deserve a serious response. You both deserve every sarcastic, biting, derisive comment directed at you.

1.) Software Tutorials and English teachers generally don't get a paycheck for doing LITERALLY NOTHING ELSE but sitting around on a computer and commenting on a piece of intellectual property that requires no labor whatsoever on their part.

2.) Teachers are required to abide by the same copyright laws as anyone else. If they monetize (make money just because people watch the videos) they are just as liable for copyright infringement as anyone else. Most videos provided for educational purposes are also given express consent to be used in classrooms by the networks providing said shows, and even then must be approved by the school before they can be used in the classroom.

3.) How about this, stop crying about not being able to capitalize on someone else's hard work and make the free videos anyways if you really give that much of a crap about providing easily accessible information to the community.

As someone who enjoys watching playthroughs of games with commentary I can say that these people deserve some of the credit for what they do. Often one does not watch them for the gameplay alone but also for that commentary. But on the other hand I understand that the original owners of the copyright deserve some of that as well.

My proposed solution for something like this would be that where monetization is denied outright provide a way to request a certain % of such revenue - based off of earlier performance(this is something that youtube and others could setup) so basically the youtuber would go to company and say I want to post videos of this and the company would say to youtube we allow this and this on the following codition that we get a % cut from this persons revenue on the videos with our work. This would solve the issue with all sides I think(of course some would still yell bloody murder). But it would provide as far as I can see a fair system for all parties involved.

Thanks. That type of constructive participation was all that I really wanted to read and I really do appreciate your new response. Well... the bulk of it, anyway. I do feel more informed now, so again, thank you.

I do understand, guaranteed better than you do especially when it comes to YouTube and crowd-sourced marketing of a product. First off, no - It's not much work to make "high quality" videos, just time consuming making content every week. Between live streams, non-cpm vids and their own marketing, SE is fine when it comes to promoting the game. The only people it hurts are those trying to make a buck off it.

I'm finding this to be disappointing, and quite upsetting.

I've been playing a FFXIV:ARR Machinima series, to have full voice acting, different sound tracks and it can't be done because of Square Enix.

If I put voice Acting for a character speaking, It's in violation.

If I put a different bit of music to it, I.E. Royalty free music. It's in Violation.

I can deal without the monetization, I do stuff on the side for that, but taking away our Machinima rights? That's evil SE.

This has been planned since 1.0, and was starting to come to fruition this coming month.

I urge SE to change their policy, and allow these things.

    Video Post Guideline

If you want to be safe on the video side
    • Remove the in-game music (environment sound ok)
    • Remove the loading screens (edit them out or put something else to avoid the art)
    • Do not put story quest
    • Avoid moment where you cannot do a screenshot (when you can do a screenshot, it means it's ok. If not, not ok)

And you should be on the safe side

There are people that literally make noises with their mouth while playing games who make 10 times the amount of money gained by developers/artists who worked on the game.

SE made the game, they can decide if they don't want people to monetize by showing the content. Making gameplay videos/let's plays/reviews it's not "hard work", it does take time, but you can't really compare that toactually making the game.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
    * Design ideas:

    "Guidelines for Videos

You may not monetize your video via the YouTube partner program or any similar programs on other video sharing sites."

Well....way to shoot yourself in the foot SE. You could have for weeks and now beyond launch, tons of video makers promoting your game and helping to bring FFXIV:ARR. But instead you have a NDA that lasts till launch AND want to deny video makers monetization on videos for game footage of FFXIV:ARR?

    continued below...
You do not own the Game's content, nor the IP. Therefor you are not allowed to make money out of someone's elses work. That is called common sense. You can share it and show it off as much as you want as long as you tell people the source of the material. You just can't make money of it.
