As an artist, I have to say this.

There's no such thing as "Free advertisement".

Having someone else get money for something you work hard on (Big company or no) isnt fair to the 1st party at all.
I honestly think anyone who uses the "Oh, well- Im making free advertisment for a good cause!" really are the worse sort of people....

Funny how so many other game companies of small and bigger sizes than SE don't seem to have a problem with YouTube content. Also funny how many people will mindlessly defend unnecessary SE policies even though SE and FFXIV could potentially gain so much more without them.

I don't expect most of you to understand, since most of you have no idea how much work YouTubers actually do to make high quality videos. I guess then I shouldn't expect people to listen either when I say, from my experienced point of view, it hurts the game and the company. And that's my concern.
I think SE is more then capable of doing their own advertising....

And, comparing the hardwork of actually developing a game (Pre-production, animation, debug, server building, coding, texturing, model building, landscaping, composing, PR, advertising, writing, localizing, VO, ect) I do believe it greatly outweighs the hardwork of making a YT video of it (Recording, commentary, actually playing the game, editing)

Im pretty sure he'll play on twitch, if he cant post a vid on YT.
Im pretty sure anyone can play on YT. Just not when your channel is set to monetize...

For that matter, if I alter their content enough for it to be considered original content -- doesn't that have a truckload of lawful legal precedent already? Don't we also have something (in America at least) called freedom of the press? Or are you saying that news sites like GameBreaker.tv, or television programs about tech news, shouldn't be allowed to talk about this game either? I mean... I understand them wanting to draw a line somewhere, but isn't a line of this magnitude at least a little unreasonable?
By monetizing, you are claiming to "own" the product. Because you are getting paid for it.
If you have a regular account, you can credit SE, and say your under Free Use.
That system doesnt work the same for YT partners....

And, as for news sites, SE usually gives them express permission to advert their games (Again, SE is more then capable to buy their own adverts).

AlsoThe bill of rights really dont apply to big name companies. None of them. Period (Because they own the governmentloljk)
