I agree with you that many launches were succesful with 200k+ players, however, in our case, I think we are looking more at 2 millions than 200k....Japan is crazy with FF

This would be more pertinent if Japan didn't have its own equal-quantity server list, when it is in fact the size of California alone (or so I've heard).

Japan is compared to the physical size of California, not population. It's much larger then California with around 127 million people. It is the number of people that matter for the number of servers (still a smaller player base then western MMO players) But that doesn't matter. In Japan MMOs have never done well by western standards and FF is no different. They are having no server problems cause so few people are playing there. Log into one of there servers. It feels like a ghost town by western standards. On the Japanese server I've been playing on it feels like there are more NA/EU players then Japanese.

Totally agree and understand.
Actually considered making a character on a JPN Server... until I heard people losing their other characters on NA/EU when they did.
This may be a fluke - or not an issue at all - but I did get play time in with my wife preceeding the "early access", and I'd rather keep my characters.

As a side note... These half dozen errors I've seen since Saturday? Didn't see a single one of them, once, during any step of the Beta.
I got more playtime in during the free beta weekend, than I did during the paid Early Access. That's just... I can't even analogy how insulting it is.

To the original topic though, their apology is reasonable I suppose, considering it's from Square Enix.

I wouldn't be surprised if this never gets fixed. This game was cursed from the get go, and as long as Yoshida has his mountain of cash to play with, I'm sure SE couldn't care less.

This is by far the worst MMO launch in recent memory, for the past 2 days all I get is "We're sorry the world is full". Why is there no que? Why are afkers not getting booted? It's a serious problem when the answer is "once you log in never log out" since all that does is screw over anyone else who isn't dedicating their pc to FF14 24/7. I'm starting to hope the game fails hard for this lack of any and all lack of effort on squares part to fix this.
