The server is full, try again later (1017)

So, just tried to create a new character on a less populated server..ONLY ONE server was available..an EU server and im in NA. So, this is what it's come to?!?! Fix this fucking problem SE. Also..in before..blah blah..new mmo launch problems. NO! I haven't seen a AAA mmo with launch problems like this for almost a decade.

check the ip address, all the na/eu servers seems to be on the same place, montreal

So, 2 days in a row of simply not being able to access a game I'm soon expected to pay money for both at retail and on a subscription basis. I'd really love to stay optimistic here and say it'll be fixed by then, but this is just... Mind-blowing. I've never seen something that just flat-out refuses to let you in; and not because of something explainable such as server maintenance, but simply because they didn't bother to make the necessary preparations for their game and they're telling us to just deal with. And to top it off, they don't even give you an estimate as to when you should try again. It's just, "Nope. Sorry. Not happening."

I really hope there's an understandable explanation for this, because this is actually kind of disturbing. Not the best way to start over from scratch and expect people to stick around -- which is sad, because the game is actually pretty good. People want to play, but clearly there lies some form of incompetence here which is seriously getting in the way of that motivation. And that's not a good way to start things off.

BTW.... There is a queue system, but its capped stupidly low. I got in queue position 16, to only be greeted with "world is full" message after it finished (perhaps length - 1 missing?).


I have been here since alpha 1.0 and I only keep sticking around because it has "FF" in the title, but at some point you have to sit back and say are these guys really this incompetent. If I left our servers have this kind of issue at my job, I would have been fired already.

Got home from work to sorry server is full bullshit again. I just don't see how this is going to get any better with release tomorrow. Loosing faith fast... Back to GW2!

Queue position 6.... STRAIGHT IN TO WORLD FULL ERROR.... WTF is the point of a queue if you can't manage it correctly

A queuing system will not work without afk logout timer in place.

Couldn't play at all for the ENTIRETY of Sunday because of Error 1017. Got in this morning at 5 AM and played a little bit, logged off, went to work then , got home from work at about 5:30 and...Error 1017.

This is absolutely ridiculous. This is a terrible "solution" Square Enix has wrought up. When you get a papercut on your finger, you do not amputate your arm at the shoulder.

I dont know about all of you, but even if my que popped up with me at 500 in que, I wouldn't complain, at least I could go do something else for a while. INstead of sitting around randomly trying to login with luck on my side, and getting nonstop 1017 errors....
