Kotaku could be right. They could predict the next President and the end of the world. It doesn't matter. They're a laughing stock when it comes to game journalism. Yes, they are likely right in their assessment of the server issues (I still refuse to read it.). But being right here and there does not make them a good or reputable source of information.

Now, we all know the game is having issues, and once other gaming news outlets start reporting in on them, I'll take them seriously. As it stands, Kotaku is going to look even more like fools if this current maintenance fixes the issues.

Just because a poor source of journalism happens to report one or two stories accurately from time to time does not suddenly make them a reputable source. It would be wrong of me to tear into Kotaku when they're wrong, then suddenly bow to them when they're right as if they never erred. They are still no better than they were before reporting on this article.

I acknowledge that the content of this article is likely accurate to some degree.

"Maintenance" is pretty much just restarting the servers so it boots everyone, especially all the afks taking up spots.

Coincidentally, someone in the comments points out that the video in the article is a breech of the NDA.

Knowing Kotaku, it's probably bait so when SE gets the video taken down they can say that SE is trying to cover it up or that SE took the video down in response to their article. Kotaku is an incredibly corrupt and unethical gaming gossip blog so they like to use tactics like that and making things up to get a lot of clicks. They're worse than Fox News.

I don't know how anyone can stand reading that horrible site.


Joystiq also reported on the problems, but almost everyone in the comments there is being rational about it since it's normal to have problems during an MMO launch.

EDIT: Massively put out an article on it and the community is acting like a bunch of spoiled, bratty, 13 year old's as usual, bashing the game and blaming Yoshida and SE for not having superpowers so they could have predicted launch problems.
