So getting kicked for being AFK for 5 minutes is reasonable? No wonder new MMOs tend to fail once they hit the western demographic.

I never said 5 minutes, someone else did. And yes, 5 minutes is way too short of a time. I also think an hour is actually too long. I'd say 30 minutes is good if you give a 5 minute warning after the 30 min time frame.

Getting booted after being afk for an hour sounds reasonable. Definitely better than the situation now where you can afk forever. I forgot and left my character logged in once in a previous phase and when I came back she was still in-game and this was close to a 24 hour period. Crazy.

I think an idle check should work together with whatever Square Enix is planning on doing because its better than running through a sea of AFK people flashing their preciouses inside town. They just making lag.

Then SE could make "server toons" looking for those people doing that. They could poke you and poor your logged out. That would be pretty funny actually. Anyways F that, if this crap progresses I will pay the transfer fee and move my toon to a JP server. It's a lot quieter on that side. Was over there for about 2hrs.

Japan data centers is less populated compared to NA/EU data centers. If everyone moves to Japanese servers I believe the problem we're experiencing now will spread over there as well. Just assuming.

Apparently some people think they should be able to go make dinner and then go to bed for 8 hours and then wake up and go to work for another 9 hours and then come home and make dinner and pick up the game again, having been logged in the whole time, cause who cares about all the people actually not AFK who want to play the game and cant, right?
