Supposedly FFXI was/is very successful as an MMO, it's good to try something different but seeing how one game actually worked out very well doesn't that say something? I say just make a FFXI-2. Different setting, similar battle system, I think the chat feature and party search worked just fine. Other minor details could be fine tuned or adjusted but why fix something that's not broken?

This is the dumbest thing anyone could ever say. Just because something is functional doesn't mean it can't be done much better. This game needs to be better than XI, and that means doing things that "worked" differently. XI was no perfect game, in fact it was flawed to the core. There is so much to improve and change to create a better game it's a bit sad.

Ask HD graphics, ask the game to migrate to PS3 and whatever else. IMO here is the land for those that already finished dealing with FFXI.

It's not better it trying to be something it not trying to be more of a wow game then anything. This is why FFXIV would fail they said that want final fantasy to be something away from other mmo so far it reminding me a lot like other mmo.

even if this is to help casual don't even matter casual are not baby they just can't play long hours. even casual players try to get best item in game and want a fun hard game.

wow casual want everything handed to them even the players that no life it.

I don't know how FFXIV going to be later with any more mmo in the market blizzard new MMO would be out by the time FFXIV get it's first expansion pack. Even if FFXIV is not trying to be like wow it sure look like it i see when they add the new battle system and class system to see if i even should stay playing this mmo i hope that some of the stuff tanaka said would be added later to this game by yoshi-p.

I do! IMO FFXIV is better than FFXI in every aspect except amount of content. It just need a few more tweaks, just like FFXI also is still receiving even after 8 years.

IMO thats all it needs right now to be a good 'just released' MMO, Content; Dungeons, and Raids. which is all first on their list of things to add along with battle changes.

Who said anything about playing ffxi? if you didn't read the first post it was about creating a different game but with similar'ish systems that work but improving on others that don't. That is not FFXI.

As far as how the game is doing, isn't the server populations or number or subscribers a hint as far as how much better FFXIV currently is? or isn't? I would not disagree many people like it otherwise there'd be no one playing it as we speak, but I do have to say the majority of people don't which is why many people left >.> if i'm wrong please do tell me which part it is that is wrong.
