Those with Experience in MMO's expect problems with servers at launch, especially popular ones, 100's of thousands of players starting at once, all trying to log into the same newbie area. Its going to happen, there are not servers or technology out there yet that's going to fix it.

So expect it, roll with it, or never ever try to play at new mmo at launch, give it a week and it will all iron out. (Unless it was WoW then it took several months to iron out.)

Thank you so much for this post! People are comparing this to 1.0 when the fact of the matter is that 1.0 was a software fail. I'd much rather be dealing with technical fails than software. This game is amazing, and obviously WAY more popular that anticipated. It is a good thing. I'm as frustrated as anyone, but it's only because of the excitement derived from the sheer awesomeness of the game!

It could be worse, the game could suck and you could be complaining that you paid for a crappy game, rather than not being able to play an amazing one.

But I only did one other MMO before: Lineage 2, which was a Korean MMO. It was ten years ago, so my memory maybe bad. (Grandma Lierin speaking)
The Launch wasn't perfect it had its maintenances. I was addicted to the game since the first logging, but we didn't have to endure all the troubles we have now on ARR, even during the end of OB.
No, the Launch wasn't a total mess like now. It had its troubles, but not this much.

Lineage 2 probably did have a worst launch than you remember. We tend to forget much once the game has been ironed out. I think the term is rose tinted glasses.
I'm not saying your wrong...just that we tend to remember things differently after a while. XD

Well clearly you didn't pre-order off SE website. The second I confirmed the "pre-order", my money was sucked out of my account that minute. I woulda loved to know where you got your early access without "pre-shelling money for the game, do tell... >_>

Really I don't think so Ohkami, but I probably forgot a part of the frustration from LII.
But even if it was worst than what I remember, they didn't chained maintenance of 3 hours and fail to correct what they said they fixed (that is not a complain anymore, it's a statement :P).

I was expecting trouble for FFXIV, just not this much. and I beleive next week end won't be better ;P I'll purchase tones of cookies to eat while reading

I have plenty fo experience with MMO launches, Early access and everything. But I think Square-Enix is definitely the worst of all of em. I didn't get early access on Saturday, this was a personal choice as I would be at gamescom(btw Yoshida was there, he is awesome and played a blackmage on a ps2 controller during the I survived the Titan battle.. battles) so I had all day(i work at night) to play FF14 : ARR early access today.. Yeah no. I get bombarded from the very get go after waking up with errors. From disconnecting from the game server, to EU/NA servers unavailable, to world server full..

I've yet to log in.. I have been trying since 2 pm today.

Popular MMO's have the same issues, yet I could at least play those, even if it was laggy. Not Final fantasy though.. oh no..they limit everything. From forums to the amount of people logging in -.-

NA servers 20 or so
EU servers 6

NA and EU share servers dude, they may have a couple labeled as Eu or Na, but they're all shared between us. the issues you're having, all of NA is having them too. Please, check things before playing the victim.

Hmm, so this mice big chunk of my money that is gone, means I didn't pay yet?

I preordered, and square has every last cent of that cost i paid, not to mention, they've had it since i preordered. if they didn't, I'd still have at least 30-35 bucks to go dick around with.

What kind of servers are they using? Windows 2003? This is silly... I mean the forums are loading like I have a 14.4k modem. You shouldn't have to LIMIT anything at the level SE is at... What ever they thought was sufficient they should have multiplied by 3.
