Trouble joining friends :-(

ok this is frustrating. As a legacy player I was stuck on masamune which SE locked during phase 4 hence my friends could not join my server. So they decided to create characters on Tonberry while we wait for masamune to open. But it did not open again for us on phase 4 so they decided to stay on Tonberry. Early access saw both Masamune and Tonberry closed during first few hours and we discussed about just making tonberry our main server since it is likely to open first. But lo and behold Tonberry is still close while Masamune is open. I was already prepared to leave my legacy character and create a new one on tonberry just to join my friends, now I'm the one who can't join their server geez!!

same here. I told my friends to reroll to masamune now while it's open but they said they are already lvl 15-20 and really don't want to redo all those stuff they did lol. I have never liked the way SE tried to micro-manage populations during 1.0 and it seems they are repeating it here. First they divert players away from legacy servers now they are diverting them away from new server like tonberry etc. So it is so hard to coordinate with friends etc. Unless ppl creates characters at exactly the same time :-(

They said 2-3 weeks after launch they will allow server transfers for a fee.

There are many posts about this issue and it really needs to be addressed. All that needs to happen is a working queue. Thats it. Every mmo has it, you don't lock a server - it is unnecessary. I hope to god they are not gonna charge ppl for a server transfer when this mess is resolved, what a scam.

Yes, blocking friends from joining the same server in a MMO is an absolutely ridiculous idea that is really going to damage SE's reputation

They said they will just transfer to masamune once transfer is available etc. But I feel kind of bad cuz they might get charged and secondly SE is not very transparent that we don't know enough to be sure whether Masamune will even be available to receive ppl from other servers once transfer is available. So it's hard to really plan ahead. We don't want to hope, play for about a month then realize we won't be able to get together anyways since the servers are also blocked from transfers etc.
