The only problem I have with ATI cards is the way they do their drivers. They have gotten a bit better but in the past they were total crap.

If it makes ya feel any better, its technically not SE. If I'm not mistaken I read some years ago during my tenure in Vana'diel that Sony handles Customer Service for SE for the US/EU. Even the servers I thought were hosted by Sony since they have the most experience handling online servers.

I waited over 2 hours and when it was finally my turn they just said to wait until square enix comes out with a solution for my problem and promptly closed the chat before I could ask anything else.

I had a similar experiance, so I called them over the phone and actully talked to someone. I also made sure to tell them about my chat experience and they said they would report it to their boss.

Which really won't end up with any worthwhile benefit. The house that SE's using is either not paid well enough or is a rival.
