I have an old buddy pass on my account. Do I own the game?

I was given a buddy pass from the original 1.0 CE edition and played the game back then. Back in those days I remember it was only a 30 day trial pass basically. Later I thought I heard it was actually a code no different than a normal box copy. And if that's true, I already own ARR now. On my services page it did have FFXI and FFXIV accounts listed.

Now that EA is upon us, I'm hoping I'm not going to have to buy the game after EA is already over!

Hopefully it should. Those buddy pass should act as a standard version of 1.0, I remember reading about it on the beta forums but I can't remember what they said anymore. I still have unused buddy passes lol

I'm pretty confident that you will indeed get ARR for free. I'm in the same situation, and my SE account shows a full copy of v1.0. I also got the phase 3 beta invite as a v1.0 owner. It may depend on when you applied the buddy pass code to your account however. It was several months after release when my boyfriend bought a copy of the v1.0 CE and gave me the buddy pass, when they were suspending the subscription fee. At that time, the buddy pass gave you a full version of the game, not just 30 days. I'm not sure if buddy pass codes applied at or shortly after release did this.

but now that im looking through this box, i remember the "Rite of Passage" that i never received, mine was "lost in the mail".. did anyone ever get theirs? it looked so cool, would have been great, i was hoping to frame my copy.

I have mine but its kinda useless now since I am making a new character. It looks nice and all but I won't be using that character anymore
