Just solo. In groups, everyone gets credit and full xp.
Btw, probably obvious but this goes for harvest nodes as well... If you see someone come up and start chopping on your tree, they're not taking anything from you.

That is good to know as I like to help others but was unsure if i was hurting them in the process so i am glad that they made this change to how the system works. It is nice to help people kill a tough boss when you are passing by and I always appreciate it when people do the same for me.

All objects on the world are "instanced" to you. Quest items, gathering nodes... treasure chests, AFAIK. Not in dungeons though.
When I get exp from an already claimed mob, I feel like I stole it from them and feel bad. So sometimes I just turn away.lol

It's a die-hard habit from pretty much every MMORPG before this one, barring a rare few (Guild Wars 2, Neverwinter, etc). It took me a while to get used to it to, but once you do, you start jumping into random fights and things go much faster.
Its actually really easy for conjurers to get rewarded for FATEs. You do not only get rewarded for dealing damage but also for building emnity. So all you do is cast a few AOE heals and you pretty much have your Gold guaranteed, even easier than it is for dpsers.

I never seemed to have any issues getting gold as long as i showed up with at least half of the fate left. heck a couple i showed up to with like 10% to go and still got gold.
