Controller & Hotbar possible? Cross-Hotbar, No Thanks. :(

Was anyone able to figure out a way to use the regular Hotbar(the striat one) with controller? I much prefer the 1.0 Hotbar (where we tab through actions on the Hotbar by holding R2 or L2 and scroll through actions with the D-pad, then press X to activate actions) and would like to try to set it up that way if I'm able to use the regular strait Hotbars.

I don't like the Cross-Hotbar. I just can't seem to get use to associating each button on the controller with a specific action. This becomes even more cumbersom when I change jobs and have to memorize the whole lay out again. I often activate the wrong action or delay a bit because I'm one of those people where you ask them to "hold out their left hand" and I'm like "durr... this left?" ._. lol

Please do something to make controller game-play less combersome! <3 <3 <3

Sorry for the off topic question (I don't seem to have the privileges to create a topic yet). But is there an option to use L1 to cycle backwards through your cross hotbars? Like how R1 cycles forwards. I didn't really get around to checking this during the beta.

If this isn't an option, any chance it could get implemented? Or is it too much of a minor issue? I think it would be a lot more convenient when cycling through hotbars if you could go both directions than if you had to make a full cycle to go back to a hotbar that is placed just before the one you're currently using.

If you are in a PC it shouldn't be very hard. You could use a software that changes your buttons into keyboard actions like Xpadder. So you still have the movement and then you assign to the other buttons the keys you want to trigger your actions, just remember to have the hotbar clean of actions so it doesn't execute the keystroke and the action of the hotbar =)

I personally love how the game-pad works and, even the number of actions is more limited than in a keyboard, I think it's faster and way more comfortable.

@ShadowVulcan: More useful than going back is to hold one (don't remember which one and then press the cross or buttons to jump directly to the hotcross you want)

R1 I believe let's you pick which cross bar you want. But then you have to remember which cross bar you put whichever skill you want. It really would be easier to be able to go forward and back.

My girlfriend plays on the PS3 with a mouse and keyboard, would be lovely to have a straight PC hotbar option :P

Although i know SE likely will not do this, she finds it alot easier to play with keyboard and mouse, controller is to hard, and we dont have two PC's capable of
playing FFXIV:ARR so be cool to have that function in place.

I made a post about this on the old forum before it went poof, which it got up to +12 within like a day and a half, so I imagine with enough garnered attention, this could actually become a reality, given that in essence, it's easy enough, especially compared to most other things that could be altered for the better good.

To be more thorough, in the thread that I made, I was asking for the XI macro format to be implemented, but from the sounds of it, - like I suspected initially, even though I never played it - FFXIV 1.0's format is more or less identical to that of FFXI's, but even if it's not exactly the same, whatever results with us reattaining the not-Cross Bar format, I'm all for it.

Im adjusting to the cross hotbar, there are, at least a lot of ways to customize its functionality, but I just want to go back to what I know. Here's hoping.
