"Her" would refer to the female Miqote who started the event in Gridania. True she's wearing a Chocobo Egg Cap but I would imagine that's who they are referring to.
Square Enix isn't gamefaqs, guys 'n gals. They have no obligation to tell stuff such as "which monster drops item X" or "how to open X door?", etc. I'm sure you all have a brain; use it.
Oh sure, they could at least tell us IF we can get them or not. You know it's this kind of attitude that caused a lot of players to quit at the beginning? Also if they're not gonna answer to these basic qestions they could shut down these forums for good.
Internet ruined gaming.
Now everyone needs guides and FAQs to know what to do. Have you read the answer from the com. rep? We're supposed to figure this event out.
Ok well seeing as you have a fully capable brain perhaps you can enlighten us, also if they want their event to be successful and when I say that I mean allow players to get the items they have sunk development time into, then should they not at least make the objective achievable before the event ends.
Of course this is based on the assumption that all the content is in the game, they may very well add more content on the 25th which will finish the event, and even if that was the case perhaps they should have made that known from the beginning.
I'm sure they will drop hints the later we go so at least some people get it. I'm happy they made this a challenge.
I don't think SE should tell these things to us, remember how boring the previous bell inspired events were? They dont need to go back to descriptions like "you feel a chill" but imo this is a nice middleground they've hit. They should give info on game mechanics and patch contents and all that, not on event quests. Besides i do hope these events are made with the prospect of us still playing next year, so it could well be something stretched over a 4 year span. Too much "i want it and and i want it nao' mentality going on at times.
Considering what we SHOULD know (IE, ignoring data mines), the only cap 'currently' available is the pristine, rank 10 one. There is a reason for us to not to be getting the other caps, which could range from "we are doing something wrong" to "we must craft the next one" to simply "it isn't available yet, but the item is in-game."
Square-enix has no obligation to tell us either option, since if the case is 1 or 2, it's part of the event and the goal of the community to discover what we must do, and in case 3, well...."we" are the ones who shouldn't be data mining the game in the first place.
This is not "basic information" we're missing out.
Not telling us what a food item does probably counts as something they could go ahead and explain why.
The effect of a status in our performance is something they could go ahead and explain, like they did.
How to proceed in a quest is NOT "basic information" and this forum's purpose is NOT to serve as 'quest faqs'. Of course, a player can discover stuff and post around here, sure, but as far as SE is concerned, it's not their problem if the players can't figure out stuff by themselfs, unless they really made something far too retarded to be figured out in the first place (Hello Absolute Virtue). If anyone is quitting the game because they aren't spoon feeding us quest details, I can't help but feel sorry.
If you still disagree, go ahead and make a thread proposing a "Quest Walkthrough" button on the journal telling everything about the quests. While we are at it, they should also go ahead and put map markers listing NM spawn locations and conditions, maybe even provide a full loot table of every monster available, after all, who wants to have little secrets in their game, right?

Wel, if we knew that the quest has multiple parts to it through in-game information it would be in SE's best interests to help us out if we cant figure it out by ourselves. But this is us digging into the .dats and finding more caps through those kind of means.
It's not about wanting a walktrhough or an easy way, if the moderators or the devs see people having a hard time figuring out something for an entire week it's clear that there's something wrong and they should at least tell if we can or can't get that item, people were quitting the game not because they wanted the game to be easier, but because they wanted it to be more user friendly, to understand what they could and couldn't do.
We aren't talking about basic information here, but about basic communication, if so many people are wandering about what those caps are for and how to get them it just can't be ignored, it doesn't matter if we are not supposed to know about them or if we can't get them now, we do know they are in the dat and we are wandering how to get them, we should know if we can get them now or if we have to wait for future updates, not necessarily how to get them.
And this is the whole SE attitude: giving as little hints as possible and letting people speculate and struggle without saying anything. That's the worst communication strategy a company can have. How many people were saying the Companies were gonna be implemented in the 1.17 patch? How many of them got disappointed? Did anyone bother to say "guys calm down, we are just gonna implement basic quests related to the Companies"? No. Would it have caused any harm to SE's plans if they said it? No. Would it have helped many players not to get over hyped and then disappointed? Yes.
Of course, it's our fault if we dig the .dat files, get hiped up and speculate, but we've got these forums and we can keep in touch with the devs, why don't they get the chance to calm us down? That's what I call "communication", not popping up randomly, saying something that cause only more hype (cause that's what they're doing right now) and ignoring at all people that are having hard time or interesting questions. If they want to communicate with us they've got the chance and these forums are a great medium, if they just wanna go on this way they could just shut them down.
