I remember Yoshi-P saying we would get tokens for dungeons that we could save up and trade for gear if were unlucky with drops so this might be it; the real question is how much tomestones we can get at a time.

Ifrit/Garuda/Titan Seals & Totems can be exchanged for tombstones
Odin/Behemoth horns can be exchanged for certain items as well

I can only asume that some tomes are for cracked materia and redemable for darklight and the other tomes are for the people who cant beat a dungeon and will be able to trade for a lesser verson of darklight.

There is a NPC in towns that will take your crack and give you tomes.

The other tomestones are for the Relic armor... which are much better than Darklight. They likely come from Labyrinth of Bahamut and Crystal Tower.

Actually the difference between the 2 is one gets you Darklight tier equipment the other gets you AF+1 (and the Hero's accessories)
