Does your friend's Square Enix accounts have service accounts for those PS3 games? I'd ask them if they do. If they don't, than it doesn't matter which of the messages it gives you, SE accounts and PSN accounts are still not being linked.

Yes, all of them preordered in PS Store and have service account. They also have played beta phase 3-4 on PS3, same as me

This was SE's response:
[NA] [PS3 Version] Version Update Issue (Aug. 15)
Right now we are experiencing technical difficulties on North American PlayStation®3 version where an error message saying "No valid service account is available to play FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn." when players press the login button on the launcher and they are unable to complete the version update.

We are currently addressing this issue with a cooperation of Sony Computer Entertainment and new updates will follow as additional information becomes available.

Please note that this issue is only occurring on the North American PlayStation®3 version. The Windows version, and Japanese/European PlayStation®3 version, are unaffected.

We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.


Apparently the PS3's game servers weren't available yet, and therefore nobody could link their PSN accounts with their SE accounts.

Should also note that the Playstation servers will be down for maintenance in half an hour.

That was for the issue before beta phase 4 begins (Aug 15) and that issue was solved.
Ther're nothing to do with that announcement now.

Make sure you have your EA code registered:

Its actually pretty confusing. Think they woulda made a simpler way. First you have to obtain your EA code/collector edition items. You should still have your order confirmation from SE in your email, scroll to the bottom where you see your SKU number for your Pre-order bonus package copy and paste in the b boxes found here http://preorder.na.finalfantasyxiv.com then you will get you EA code/collectors edition items, it will also be emailed to you. Then just follow the onscreen instructions to register your EA code. I used option 2 (the alternate method)

Why would it magically start working on the 24th, when it's already working for some now and not others? And what time on the 24th? Are we going to be downloading 2 gigs while the server we want quickly fills up? They're telling people what they want to hear to shut them up.

No actually, they're completely related. The issue now and the issue then are giving the same error for a reason.

And as I stated before, and which has apparently now been confirmed by SE, the issue should be resolved on the 24th when the servers go live.

I checked my CC statement, and I ordered right in the middle, on the 14th. And yes, I am affected.

Going by the dates, I think this has something to do with the PS3 Phase 4 login problems last week. The game went up for sale on the 13th. It then disappeared from the store on the 16th when the problems were occurring. It reappeared on the store that night, around the time the PS3 Phase 4 login problems started to get fixed.

My guess is that anyone who bought a copy in that window between the initial sale and when it was taken down are affected.

OK, I pre-ordered in Aug. 13...
Hoping they fixed it before the server goes up.
