You can't trade the cracked materia by itself for tombstones, only the ones you already melded back in 1.0.

It kinda sucks, but at the same time all those useless Cactuar foot materia IV or w/e from 1.0 can be changed into anything you want.

I'd say use the low ones to get your gambler's crown and the IV's for new crafting gear, unless you want the new V materia that is

What are people doing with the cracked materia. Did you exchange it for new materia or for new currency. I'm not sure what the best option is.

I was under the impression that you cannot exchange the materia itself for currency, but only equipment that has the cracked materia melded to it.

The cracked materia itself I am saving until I can figure out what I need, but I traded in the equipment for darklight equipment.

I don't believe it's possible. When I went to meld a new materia to an item, it shows you the current materia in your bag that you can meld and grays out the ones you can't. Cracked materia didn't show up in that list.

It's a shame because in the old forums I got an amazing reply when I asked a similar question.

Remember, you're exchanging the gear WITH the cracked materia for Allagan Tomestones. These can be used to buy primal tokens for primal weapons...or DL gear.
From what I was told by a player on the old forums, it was like 10-15 tomestones for a primal token, and a few hundred to a thousand for DL gear. That sounds like alot but you'd get a few thousand tomestones easily for a few double/triple meld trade-ins.

As for whats worth being bought, I'd argue don't knock off the tokens just yet. As we know there are new primals, Odin and Titan which you can probably get tokens from with this trade. You could be the first person with Odin weapons/gear before actually killing him is my uneducated guess :P

As for DL gear, I don't know if they will be dropped in 2.0 dungeons like they were in 1.0, but I'd assume so. Regardless though at the end of the day I'm sure primal weapons and DL gear will be replaced by better gear/weapons from bah and crystal tower...so don't worry too much about it. Honestly for me, I'll probably end up getting gear/weapon for my off classes and not my main.

You can only buy Darklight items, and like 3 Different pets (If memory serves me, Spriggan, Raptor and Dodo).
Unless I was looking in the wrong place you can't buy Primal Tokens, nor Primal Weapons, However they buy the old Primal Tokens (Kupo Nut Charm for example) off of you for 15 Tomestones of Philosophy.

I didn't see anywhere where you could exchange Cracked Materia for Tomestones, only Gear with Cracked Materia in it...Single pieces of Materia I could only find was able to be exchanged for a new Materia of the same Tier.

Odin and Behemoth items on this Vendor required 5 of: Odin's Mantle or Behemoth Horn respectively to be exchanged for a Odin/Behe item.

But the Vendor sold Darklight Gear for anywhere from 375(I think, it may be 395? lol bad memory is baaaaad) to 1300-something depending on the item.

I'm pretty sure its not 10-15 tomestones to purchase a primal token, I think its 10-15 tomestones you get from selling a primal token.

Just a heads up you guys, waiting for someone to figure out what materia is the most valuable then cashing all your cracked materia in for that, and selling it, is just going to tank the price.

Being able to pick what exact materia you get is huge, as we should all know as 1.0 players. I'm planning on just sitting on my stockpile and draw whatever materia I need from it. I've already used it to improve my crafting gear substantially.

To be fair, the info they gave is wrong, they said we would be able to exchange the Materia we had also for Currency, and also purchase Primal Weapons with said currency...this is not true as it stood on Open Beta (Phase 4)
