Well done.
Well done.
Very good write up with lots of good info.
Very nice, thanks for posting! Its going to be so helpful, I'm not new to tanking...but I'm new to tanking in this game.
I can't make my own thread, so I'll just ask this here. Is there a way to scroll through the enemy list? I notice sometimes if I Tab target...it might target something far away. I'll admit I haven't looked through all the targeting options, but any advice from great tanks would be helpful!
Any chance you'll be taking a stab at the formula for Effective Hit Points? I know it'd be complicated and dependent on what you're tanking, but perhaps we could get something close?
Common EHP Variables
Hit Points
Defense
Magic Defense
Block Chance
Block Mitigation
Parry
Parry Mitigation
STR (Strength) (+n Block Mitigation; +n Parry Mitigation)
DEX (Dexterity) (+n Block Chance; +n Parry Chance)
VIT (Vitality) (+15 HP per point at level 50)
Situational EHP Variables
Fire Resistance
Ice Resistance
Wind Resistance
Earth Resistance
Lightning Resistance
Slashing Resistance
Piercing Resistance
Blunt Resistance
PvP Specific Variables
Morale - Reduces the amount of damage received from player's attacks
Emnity Variables

Critical Hit Rate
Determination
Attack Power

Very nice. I was wondering what the enmity mods were for the skills.
Thanks a lot! I feel a bit more secure knowing my rotations were okay on gladiator/paladin. I still need to get some more practice in on Warrior.
awesome guide![]()
fire it up!
That is prolly beyond my "skillset"^^ I was gonna elaborate on specific stats come release and once I tested everything thoroughly to give some facts on how raising specific stats is gonna affect your overall performance number-wise. Say how much %+ in Block and Parry Chance is raising DEX gonna give and stuff like that. But that requires a way higher sample size compared to what testing I have done so far. And given they might have changed something between phase 3/4 and release, I didn't wanna "waste" my time on something that could change so easily^^Any chance you'll be taking a stab at the formula for Effective Hit Points? I know it'd be complicated and dependent on what you're tanking, but perhaps we could get something close?

So long story short...expect to see formulas on specific stats and how they affect your performance, but probably nothing close to effective hit points overall![]()
The formula for EHP is this:Any chance you'll be taking a stab at the formula for Effective Hit Points? I know it'd be complicated and dependent on what you're tanking, but perhaps we could get something close?

EHP = (Base HP + 15 x dVIT) x (100/(100 – % damage reduction))
A L50 PLD will have roughly 245 VIT and 2400 HP baseline. A L50 WAR will have roughly 245 VIT and 2465 HP at baseline. With this in mind we can make generalized formulas of:
PLD EHP = (2400 HP + 15 x (VIT – 245)) x (100/(100 – % damage reduction)
WAR EHP = (2465 HP + 15 x (VIT – 245)) x (100/(100 – % damage reduction)
To figure our your damage reduction, you can refer to the following chart:
As you can see, STR is tiered for damage reduction so a PLD with 270STR and another PLD with 336STR, both with 200 block rate will have the same damage reduction. The person with 337 will take 1% less damage. The formula to figure our your damage reduction is as follows:
Damage Reduction = (0.0876 x Shield Block) + 9.7804 + (STR Tier)
Hope this has helped anyone out.

Far too early to be calling guides "in-depth", especially for Tanking. It's just a class overview, but appreciated none the less.
Awesome Van. Thanks for the link. I was trying to find that data for a while now, as I read several posts about it, but nobody ever linked to the original source xD
