I think all we really want is the options from 1.x
People can still sell their stacks as a stack if they want, and others can offer to sell a stack individually.

Reading the thread, I read actually three positions:
1. Sell bundles as a whole - if my offer is one of 20 items, you will have to buy the 20 items.
2. Allow the divisibility of bundles - my offer is one of 20 items, but you can buy 5.
3. Allow the divisibility of bundles, but grant a wholesale discount to whoever buys everything or a large quantity - my offer is one of 20 items, but you can either buy 5 at price x each or you can buy 20 at price x*a each, with a < 1.
If options 3 and 1 are in place, then 2 becomes redundant.
Of course, this requires that they level their guys to 20 do the applicable story quests and defeat Ifrit with their dummy characters. that's in addition to this work of constantly managing their retainers..As an anti RMT measure, this is a failure. All you've done is make it more work. Who is willing to put more mindless work into an activity? RMT. They will gladly sit there and micromanage their sell lists all day long to make their living.
Who's edged out? People who purchased this thinking they were going to be playing a game.
Did they change that from the Beta? Last I saw you had to get all the way to the Ifrit fight before retainers were accessible.

This is a very good idea.
RMT have no problems with doing these kinds of the things they farm for hours on end every day, a few menial quests are nothing to them.
FWIW you don't need to defeat Ifrit to get retainer access.

I am of the opinion that this is the way it should be. The fact is that often times stacks are sold for less simply because they are stacks and the seller needs to unload gear. Its essentially allowing sellers to have a "sale" little buy 2 get one free deal. If sellers want to sell items individually they are more than welcome to do so but when i put up a stack of something at a 20% discount, its because i want to sell the whole stack not single items form it.

System works fine. As a seller i can:
A) Sell a bunch of items at a per-unit price
B) Sell a bunch of items at a total-stack price
I don't see the problem....
Perhaps single item purchase could work if you were allowed to set a price for the stack and a different price for singles but i dont really see that happening

I, too, would very much like to be able to purchase a single item. Oftentimes when I'm crafting, I am just moving quickly through items to get them checked on my crafting log. If I end up mass producing something, then I have thought out ahead on other ways to get the crafting material. So I usually don't need a whole heap of items that will just take up space (forcing me to then have to sell).
If being able to buy in smaller units (ie 1) was done before in 1.x, why can't the market be designed around being able to do this now?
/signing this because i think it is essential for the in-game economy to thrive.

I didn't play 1.0 so I can't attest to the market system in it, but this is by far the least friendly market system I have seen. I second the person that said all this market system makes me want to do is farm my own mats, craft my gear, and then undercut the stack prices. Right or wrong that is just my personal opinion on this topic.
