On Figaro the market wards of LL and Grid have become virtual ghost towns. It's almost impossible to find anything outside of Ul'dah's wards. Is it pretty much the same situation other servers?

Yes. I really hope they would make market wards global. Also they need to be bigger, atm the middle tailors ward in Uldah so often has max number of retainers.
Gridania is always dead, Limsa is almost nearly as dead. Can really blame this on SE for merging all story quests to uldah + Guildleve imballance. Once both of those are fixed... Hopefull people will get away from Uldah.
Uldah sucks anyways...
Uldah does suck in my opinion, I hate how closed up it is, but I also hate being forced to go there for everything. I was okay going there for quests like wvr and thm, I'm not okay for having to shop there all the time and not being able to grab anything in Gridania. On Selbina server, shields are the only thing worth going to LL for.
this is one thing you can't really solve...can you? Every game i've played (different economies, ways of commerce) they ALL have a central 'trade hub' or main 'city' or main 'AH' that is set by the players. Don't matter how the economy is setup players will always build or establish a main area to trade, sell and buy. I mean that's just how humans roll...even in real life we do this, just not as big as online games.
At this point, they may as well just merge the uldah, limsa, and grid wards into one searchable list. It will increase usability. I don't see a downside to this.
Yes, some kind of global search would be nice. But how do we obtain the goods?
If they do this, can we buy from other cities? Im in LL can I buy stuff from Grid?
is it a search only and travel to ward to buy?
Do we have to travel to that city to pick up goods? We should be able to train chocos into errand runners and pick up goods for us LOL
