Bone Ring crafted in Cernit clay

I remembered I had some polymer cernit clay laying around, and decided to try some real life crafting.

Here is the original ring:


You probably remember the good ol' Bone Ring, right? That's what I decided to make, for better or worse. I was uncertain about how the pattern looked all the way around, so I had to improvise.

Cross your fingers for the result! This is my first time creating something like this.

Very nice detail work, by the way. The professionalism to ensure symmetry is lost to lack of patience far too often in homebrew crafting.

I have to admit the ring is quite uneaven in the edges, and the seam is too bumpy. But it is my first time, and it was difficult working with the thin and fragile material without ruining it completely.

Anyway! Here's an update. I've baked it (well, cooked it) and started the painting.

Oh drat... I suddenly realized the ring is too short and the pattern has some similarity flaws... That X is supposed to go seamless with the outer circles... Darn. >: (

Edit: In fact, now that I study it again, it doesn't even look like an X at all in the original. T_T

Edit 2: Maybe I can fake it with the paint...

Edit: It's slightly more blue/green-ish in real life, my phone camera messes with the colours. You can tell from the table's colour...
