nothing will change with me just stick with ul'dah & the flames.
wonder if the ferry ride will still cost 50k between ul'dah & LL

That's actually a pretty neat list. I can pretty much follow the same route for my character. (^_^ )-bI will be beginning in Gridania. My plan is as follows:
- Start as Archer. Get through the first two or three quests in order to escape instanced content.
- Visit my retainers and the calamity salvanger. Sort out my gear and setup my skill bars on all classes (not yet jobs). Buy a bottle of orange juice.
- Visit Archer's guild and complete class quests up to Level 30 to unlock skills. Do the same for Conjurer and Lancer.
- Get as far as I can on the Leatherworker, Botanist and Carpenter class quests (I will hit a roadblock with the materia-relevant quest, but no rush).
- Walk to Thanalan, tagging aetherytes along the way.
- Visit Mutamix Bubblypots and unlock any sealed Materia-content.
- Continue to Ul'dah. Do class quests for Pugulist, Gladiator and Thaumaturge. Again, get as far as I can on Miner, Alchemist, Goldsmith and Weaver.
- Walk to Vesper Bay, tagging aetherytes along the way. Give the orange juice to the not-really-colour-coorindated quest NPC and unlock gear dying.
- Catch the Ferry to Limsa Lominsa (regardless of the expense). Get as far as I can on class quests for Marauder, Fisher, Blacksmith, Armourer and Culinarian.
- Purchase a Weathered Grimoire and unlock Arcanist. Do the first class quest to make sure the hunting log is working.
- Buy some dyes. Get colour-coordinated.
- Teleport back to Gridania. Start the main scenario quests and Gridanian sidequests playing as arcanist (by now, the low level areas should not be swarming with players).
- After catching the airship to Limsa, complete the Arcanist quests up to level 15.
- Run Sastasha, the Tam-Tara Deepcroft and the Copperbell Mines. Continue to follow the main scenario, defeat Ifrit and rejoin the Order of the Twin Adder.
- At my leisure, complete the sidequests up to level 15 in La Noscea and put the experience on Culinarian (currently level 2).
- At my leisure, complete the sidequests up to level 15 in Thanalan and put the experience on Weaver (currently level 2).
- Go nuts with whatever, including job-related content.
Upon reaching levels 27 and 33 I will need to make a decision about continuing the main scenario as an Arcanist, or swapping to marauder or lancer respectively, because these are my current levels on those non-50 classes and I'll need to pick my priority class.
Credit goes to Niqo'te for her fabulous art in the "Nique's happy fun time!"-thread and Nix/Capa for the Caitlyn drawing to the right. \(^_^ )/
Give her your support by liking their art!
I think they said the overpriced ferry ride was just for Phase 3 to discourage people from taking a shortcut through the storyline, and that it will be properly reasonably priced in the future.

From what level/quest can we get a second job again?
Larek Darkholme @ Ragnarok
Doing your class quest at level 10 unlocks the armoury and the ability to join the other guilds. (If you are from 1.0, you don't have to do this, you get access to the armoury right away if I remember right)
You do but can't switch to a new class/job until you pledge yourself to the guild.

I am pretty sure i could switch classes without doing the r10 quests for the class i started as. But you get one extra get set slot by signing up to the different guilds. And you will have to do class quests to get the quest skills.
I remember getting on and trying to change classes only to be hit with a "You must first unlock the class to equip this weapon" so I went to every guild in grid to unlock drg and brd after doing level 10 whm quest.

Are you starting in your city of choice and sacrificing the class you would prefer to begin on?
No. Like you I'm Legacy and have multiple jobs to 50. Though when choosing a nation, I had to pick the affiliated class for that nation so it was easy for me.
Are you starting on your class of choice even though it isn't in your preferred starting city?
No. Like the above answer implies, I had to choose the correct class for the nation of Limsa Lominsa which Marauder. If I wanted to start out as pugilist The game would of sent me to Uldah.
Starting on a new class wherever you have one, just so you don’t waste all that EXP? Will everyone be starting in Limsa as Arcanist? lol
I'm in Limsa LominsaFTW already and I will not defect. I will take up the class and master it too!
Something else?
Yes. I will try out scholar too.
Also, do you think I'm nuts for doing it the way I plan to? lol
No. Play the way you feel comfortable! Remember you has the option to change class so no exp. is left behind or wasted.
Right before you speak to the NPC, you can switch to Arcanist. If your too low level it won't work due to level requirements(which I think should be taken out)The missions are 1~20ish so you shouldn't have trouble if you decide to level your Arcanist to 20 first. It shouldn't take you so long... at-least you'd learn it. *cough*guild-leves*cough*
Use your leveled jobs if you get tired and/or frustrated and destroy the missions(either way, you'll run into some level-cap battles!) Missions as I remember will be solo so I don't remember having anyone in my party while doing boss fights.
GL! ^^
