I am seriously going to beat you until battle tanks pull us apart.

I personally wouldn't worry about saving them. With how the EXP/level increases exponentially, the lower hunting log tiers (probably even 40-50) will barely make a contribution to progress.I am still a little undecided about the hunting log. While I should probably leave them un completed for my r50 classes to save exp for possible level cap increase if there are achievements for completing the logs I may end up doing them. Same thing with the bonus exp for crafting/finding items on crafting and gathering log

i'll be going arcanist to start in limsa "a sight for me sore eyes" and zergin through main story to get FC. (i've been saving myself all beta for limsa cutscenes and story line. haven't seen any intro or main story there except the the lvl15 bits "journying abroad" stuff.) then once i'm free company bound i'll doo all the classes lvl30 quests to get my juicy bits (again:/) i'm still unsure, do we need to redo job stuff as well for abilities...thats gonna be a bit awkward cause some of us have all the AF already...i guess we will just have to drop it to reget it from them. then i'll go back on acn and around lvl 40ish i'll decide wich sch or smn i want to do first, then i'll do the other and try to time the quest xp to carry me to 50 with it. from there it's a free game i'll have some fun in the sun with the LS FC and gather craft whateves. it's gunna be fun to see what acn smn sch are about. they aren't my typical class/jobs. more of a samurai, dark knight tank.

Hi Ji-bean,
- Are you starting in your city of choice and sacrificing the class you would prefer to begin on?
- Are you starting on your class of choice even though it isn't in your preferred starting city?
- Starting on a new class wherever you have one, just so you don’t waste all that EXP? Will everyone be starting in Limsa as Arcanist? lol
- Something else?
- Also, do you think I'm nuts for doing it the way I plan to? lol
How I understand our situation as 1.0 players is that we won't have to choose anything since we get a "special" treatment and intro.
Legacy characters will start at a different place, the one where the hero party drops from the void.

My understanding on this is that 1.0 players won't have to chose a City nor a Class.
Naoki Yoshida said something along this line during E3 in Nova Crystallis interview.
Nova Crystallis: Will the story content differ for Legacy characters, either with acknowledgement from NPCs or extra cutscenes?
Yoshida: Yeah, there are some things that will be different for Legacy players. Some of the voice events as well – we’ve taken lines for both Legacy and newer players.
And you are not nuts you're beeeeaaaaans!!

They changed that to my knowledge. Now legacy opens with a character editor so you can apply changes, then you pick your class and your class determines which city you start in. As for that bottom quote:Hi Ji-bean,

As for topic. Totally undecided. Will be joining Adders for GC so would be nice to start on my 50CNJ in Grid (don't like ARC in ARR :<) purely for the convenience of not having to run. Uldah and 50THM kind of hold a special lil place in mah heart though (especially now that the AF doesn't outright suck (but boo to losing all materia ><)). But I do plan on 50ACN asap... but hate LL. I'll likely be playing with controller this time so probably go with THM (healing with controller is a nightmare to me), run my butt to LL to get ACN going after I do my class quests and then level ACN on up. I think.

Hi! My understanding is that we'll get a special intro and some special treatment/dialog at times, but that we will still have to choose a class which will then determine our city (just like the rest of the population).Hi Ji-bean,

This was the topic on the Lodestone entitled Transferring Character Data to FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn (06/05/2013) (so it's not about new characters, it's about transferring 1.0 characters)
http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com...a1dd51085f4be3
Tons of other info on that page other than what I quoted, like the fact that we will have to progress through the main story in order to join a Grand Company. And that unlike new players, we will have access to our retainers right away.Characters
FFXIV: ARR has been created with an entirely new graphics engine, and has also seen the addition of new races including Highlander females, Miqo'te males, and Roegadyn females. In light of these changes, players will be given the opportunity to change the appearance of Version 1.0 characters. All aspects can be altered, including race, gender, and name. Please note that changes can only be performed once.
Selecting Version 1.0 Characters for the First Time
Regardless of gear worn during the final save of Version 1.0 (November 1, 2012), Version 1.0 characters will be shown wearing race-specific starting gear.
Modifying Version 1.0 Characters
The appearance of Version 1.0 Characters can only modified when logging in for the first time after the start of official service. You cannot perform changes during phase 3 of the beta test. * If you believe your Version 1.0 character data has been improperly transferred, please contact the support center.
Starting Cities
When logging into FFXIV: ARR for the first time, your starting city will be determined by the starting class you choose. For example, selecting pugilist will place you in Ul'dah, and selecting marauder will place you in Limsa Lominsa. This is to ensure that characters start in the city that houses their guild.
Starting Class Guild Location
Marauder
Arcanist * Limsa Lominsa
Archer
Lancer
Conjurer Gridania
Pugilist
Gladiator
Thaumaturge Ul'dah
*Arcanist will not be available during the beta test.
* Players cannot start as a Disciple of the Hand or Land.

/nod i thought only legacy members will see different starting sequence and gc leader will sort of remembering you...and more.
My 1.0 friends, who all abandoned me @ first month, reported no special opening for them.
As ppl said, we will be like what we did in beta3 need to choose a city and class. can change class right away if you unlocked it before, but still need to get that class you choose to lv 10 in order to start the rest. I guess that's why the class need to start at that city, so se won't confuse some players. Some might follow shinnies or pretty lads then got lost in the wild...in fact, i know a couple... =.=

Oh I totally forgot the Transferring Character Data to FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn (06/05/2013) Lodestone entry when I wrote my answer, my mistake.
I think I'll stick to Gridania and avoid the massive Arcanist train for a while ^^ Limsa is going to be overcrowded!
I don't see myself enlisted in The Twin Adders and start in Ul'dah for example. It just doesn't seem to match at all.
So I'm sacrifying the new Monk for a starting City-State =)

My friend is joining the game so I will let him decide on his first job and will go wherever he goes.
Then I quickly go pick up Arcanist on foot then back to our home time and start questing like a beginner![]()

Larek Darkholme @ Ragnarok

Im starting in Limsa as Arcanist, doing the story missions up to rejoining the Immortal Flames and going straight to 50. The rest can wait. Although if Arcanist isn't in Phase 4 for some reason, ill be using one of my 50's to do the main scenario up to Grand Company and then spending the remainder of the phase leveling a crafting class.
I have within me the blood of legends!
