Multiple/All Jobs 50 going into ARR – What city/class will you start on?

I Lucke'd out (see what I did thar...). My main class/job is GLA/PLD which starts in UD which was where I started in 1.0. Also a max Flamer, so it all works out.

EDIT: For those wondering if you can get crafter EXP for doing main quests...I tested this in P3. You CANNOT. If you do a quest then switch to a craft, you can't turn it in. The icon above the NPC's head turns red until you change back to DoW/M.

Of course, that might change in P4 but I doubt it.

Well, it worked for me in Phase three, although by the time I tested it, I was done with the main scenario and was catching-up on sidequests only.

Most of your quest experience comes from sidequests rather than the main scenario, so it is certainly viable to pump up a non-combat class with quest experience.

(Point of interest, class quests would not let you do them with a job equipped. You had to be playing as the base class.)

Aslong as the DoH/L's level meets or exceeds the level requirement of the quest it should work. As with all quests, if you try to turn in a level 10 quest on any class under 10 the NPC will display the red lock and key until said requirement is met.

I'll be starting as Arcanist (I read somewhere ACN is in P4) because I feel like I'd be wasting all the exp seeing as I have every other DoM/DoW at 50. Given that I'll also take my time to do all the side quests and hunting logs for ACN, though I might cheat to speed up some quests and just take the hand in exp. It also helps I hope to main Scholar come release.

If ACN isn't in P4 I will rush to GC unlock with THM/BLM because I don't think I want to repeat Gridania for the 4th or something time but will stop all progression of the story there until I can get ACN and work on unlocking all the skills/spells for all my classes and start working on my BTN and ALC.

Yeah, there's the problem. A lot of contradicting information has been running around on this subject. It's not clear if this understanding that Arcanist will be available in Phase 4 originated from a developer's comment or from random speculation. Either way, it has propagated.

If anyone knows what the source is for it being in Phase 4 (and where to find it) it would be great if we could clear that one up.

Been thinking about that for a while. ^^

I will start in Gridania (love you hunnie!) as CNJ, then after the first 2 quests switch to GLD. All my other classes in Grid are 50 so putting the main scenario exp into GLD would be fine since it's only 15. I'll only do the main story quests till I unlock the airship, go to LL and get ACN then continue everything using that. Depending on the price of the boat to LL I might consider unlocking ACN first.

If no ACN in P4, after I'm done talking to Miounne, take out my pickaxe and gather! (In early access, original plan resumes!)

Believe it came from a suppose little informal Q/A with YoshiP on Ifrit in phase 4 that they were trying to get Arcanist ready for phase 4 amongst other things. So while it'd be nice, doesn't hurt to have backup plans in place in case it isn't actually there.

My other half and I have decided to travel from our Gridania home over to Ul'dah, then Limsa fairly early to pick up Aetherytes along the way, and also so that he can pick up MRD quests he needs to do since he's our tank. If Arcanist is available, great, we'll pick it up. If not, that's fine too. Either way, it won't change the fact that I'll still be heading back to Gridania to finish my CNJ class quests and Main Story.

My home city is Limsa so I'll probably start on Arcanist if all the cutscenes/VA are indeed implemented in Phase 4 and the class itself is available. I'll probably end up swapping around some for dungeons with people in my LS/FC though as I don't think 4 Arcanists will be a very good setup. :P

If Arcanist isn't available, I'll probably start on doing all the class quests so I can have those abilities available.

I also plan on re-checking the Mining/Botany nodes <= level 35 and obtaining the data for those higher than that. And of course, the most important thing I want to do is fishing, but it's going to be a cruel balancing act between that and the above stuff.

Definitely going to start in Ul'dah, and continue work at my Relic right after; speaking of which I'm excited to see what changes they are making to that system (as far as obtaining and upgrading goes)!

I'm going Arcanist to start in limsa, though my planned class is Gladiator for ARR, It was my to be main in 1.0 but as soon as we heard of ARR I decided to put it on hold till now.
