Just when I was thinking ARR wasn't leaving enough open to interpretation. Thanks, SE!
IFRIT FRITTERS!
that one is pretty good too bad we can't get a boost when we destroy the fetter
hell this one isn't just "fettered" to Arr they were supposed to be called that in 1.0 version as well >.<
I have a secret to tell. From my electrical well. It's a simple message and I'm leaving out the whistles and bells. So the room must listen to me Filibuster vigilantly. My name is blue canary one note* spelled l-i-t-e. My story's infinite Like the Longines Symphonette it doesn't rest- TMBG Birdhouse in your Soul
A huge THANK YOU!!!! For FINALLY selling the Meteor Survivor Polo on the store. AND a huge thanks to my friend who bought it for me while he was at Fan Fest!!! YES I finally have my POLO!!!
It makes more sense to bind Ifrit to our spectrum but the risk would be him gaining strength from the natural realm, giving the engaging party almost a disadvantage. SO, what I get from this- the only way this would make any ounce of sense is that if you gain a fetter, you can use it to aggro the primal and access the battle in open world.Definition of fetter (n)
Bing Dictionary
fet·ter [ féttər ]
1. shackle for ankles: a chain or shackle fastened to somebody's ankles or feet.
2. restraint: a means of confinement, restriction, or restraint-
put fetters on somebody: to shackle somebody with fetters
Can someone who done this confirm? I haven't really fought with the 2.0 Ifrit yet, though I'm looking forward to it NOW! ^^
(does he drop any weapons?)

I did the Ifrit fight and there was no chest at the end, so I'm assuming he won't drop any from the story mission just like 1.0. There'll probably be a higher tier one(50 cap) that'll drop the Primal weapons we know and love.It makes more sense to bind Ifrit to our spectrum but the risk would be him gaining strength from the natural realm, giving the engaging party almost a disadvantage. i'm still gonna be calling it a nail....
Maybe we are looking at this backwards. Instead of the fetter being a restraint against Ifrit, what if its a restraint against the players defense to Hellfire? Thus destroying the fetter would allow the players to survive Hellfire.
it is a possibility but it's never mentioned in the battle chat that "Fetter destroyed hellfire defense brought back to normal" and vice versa

And most specifically, there is a better hint as to why that is a fetter.
It's stated soon after the battle that a Primal's natural state is not the condensed form we see, but dispersed through the aether flow.
That is why a fetter would strengthen Ifrit. It gives him a stronger foothold in the material realm, makes him more solid and his power more real. That is also why primals are never fully killed, only... Dispersed.
