Question about classes, 2nd jobs and levelling

    Hey,

I'm not sure if this was answered before but I tried to search on the forum and couldn't find the answer.

So as we know, when they implemented jobs, our class level was the job's level. But what will it be in the future for the second jobs?

If one levels Arcanist, will they have both Summoner and Scholar levelled (which would be quite boring). Will we have to choose one of the jobs and level the other from lv.1? Or will we have to level both of them, separately from Arcanist or something (improbable considering they gave our job its class's level)?

    Thanks

Yes, both jobs will have the class' level. Which is my main gripe about this system. People say "yeah, but jobs are levelled horizontally through questing" but that takes about 30 minutes to do them all.

Your best bet is thinking of jobs as different "modes" of the same class. Like SMN = DD ACN and SCH = Healer ACN. It's the only thing keeping me going to be honest!

Oh ok, was hoping to be able to level two jobs :/ Might be a little confusing to learn both jobs' abilities

I see it pretty much like a talent tree in other games really, just less advanced for now. You level a base class, and then you pick which specialisation you want. Switching to a different job for the same class is sort of a free talent-tree re-spec idea, or multi-spec system.

There will also be new classes most likely, considering there's a variety of jobs that would be hard to implement using the current classes.

It seem hard for people to understand the idea behind jobs when i first saw them i'm like oh it's like wow tree system. I really do wish SE explain things better but i guess that hard to do every single time.

It's true it does make more sense if you view it like a talent tree. I just viewed jobs as "advanced jobs" since I thought of them, in some aspects, as in FFXI's unlockable jobs

class you level, job is just a piece of armor that opens up more skills.
you dont level jobs there a piece of equipment.

Can't believe people would be sad about NOT having to level something. I'm all for going through the story and quests and stuff, but once I run out and I have only the slower means of leveling left available to me, I'm not looking forward to grinding out those levels, let alone if I had to do it 9 more times for the jobs.
