    PS3 Beta + 1.0 Account question

I think I'm allowed to post this question here now, and seeing as these forums are much less crowded, maybe an Admin will see it and we can get this answered. Furthermore there is currently a 750 character per post limit + only one post per 15 minutes limit at the Beta forums.

    Here's my question/issue/problem:

After obtaining a PS3 Beta code and going through the process of being able to play on the PS3, people are reporting that they have to link their PSN/Sony account to their SE Account (obviously, of course.) When doing so they are advised that it is permanent and irreversible. So they do it in thinking that they are linking this PS3 beta code AND their PSN/Sony account to their EXISTING FFXIV Service Account.

In fact, what is happening, is a new and separate FFXIV Service Account is being created.

When checking their SE Accounts, people who previously had ONE FFXIV Service Account (like myself) are finding this under FFXIV Active Service Accounts:

FFXIV Service Account 1 (which has all their stuff they know from before, including all of their permanent options, in-game items, registrations, etc.)

FFXIV Service Account 2 (which apparently has the PS3 Beta attached to it)

    This brings about two issues:

    1) We've been advised that we can only attach ONE PSN to ONE SE account. Does this mean that we've attached it and now this "extra" FFXIV Service Account is the only account that can be used with the PSN?

    2) Does it mean we cannot log into Beta characters we've created on PC, or later, our 1.0 characters?

    3) Both?

I have obtained a PS3 Beta code but right now am waiting to go through the registration process and attaching my PSN/Sony Account to my SE Account. This really needs clarification. It is confusing enough sometimes. I have it easy because I have ONE SE ACCT and ONE FFXIV Service Acct. I do not want to create an FFXIV Service Account 2 which is where my PS3 info has been attached to (and nothing else).

I don't want to end up screwing something up and not being able to later attach my retail PS3 CE Game to my 1.0 account and PSN.

So this post fell off with no replies or likes.

If I can't get a dev response (which I sure hope to), can anyone tell me if you have been able to link your PSN to your SE account and add PS3 Beta access to it without inadvertently creating an additional FFXIV Service Account?

If so, can you tell me how you did this? Or give some insight about how that is possibly ok?

I've just checked, and there isn't a new Service Account. I linked my SE account to my PSN, and it didn't change anything. There is one other service account, but it's from the beta phase from version 1.0, and it's under the "Cancelled Service Accounts".

And your PS3 Beta showed up as a Permanent Option with the date you added the ps3 beta code, in your existing FFXIV Service Account?

This is what my Permanent Options look like:

    Permanent Options
    Option - Date Enabled
    FINAL FANTASY XIV - Windows(R) Oct. 2, 2010
FINAL FANTASY XIV - Legacy May 20, 2012
FFXIV: A Realm Reborn - Alpha Test Dec. 9, 2012
FFXIV: A Realm Reborn - Beta Test Feb. 19, 2013
    In-game item Code - Garlond Goggles Oct. 2, 2010

so if I added another beta code, I can see where it would be confusing to the account unless it's differentiated as a PS3 Beta Test code

Btw, were you previously in Beta (phases 1 and 2) for ARR? It may be that ppl who already have an existing Beta code on their FFXIV Service Account end up with a 2nd Service Account because the PS3 may not be differentiated and it can't handle being having two of the same "FFXIV: A Realm Reborn - Beta Test" in permanent options. I think the problem is that it doesn't say PS3 on the permanent option. Idk, let me know your situation! and thank you for replying!

This is what it looks to me:

    FINAL FANTASY XIV - Windows(R) Dec. 4, 2010
FINAL FANTASY XIV - Legacy May 7, 2012
FFXIV: A Realm Reborn - Beta Test Feb. 23, 2013
    In-game item Code - Onion Helm Sep. 20, 2012
Campaign Code - Asuran Armguards Dec. 4, 2010

But I didn't register the PS3 beta code. The game didn't ask for it. I received it, but I didn't register it. I also received a code to download the game. After I downloaded it, I just logged in. ._.

I got the option to select a second service account when I started up the game on the PS3. I selected the first one fine and began the game with my Onion Helm and Asuran Armbands in my mailbox.

Interesting. In the PS3 Beta email it does give a "PlayStation®3 Promotion Code" as well as a "Beta Registration Code". Marcus since you are already in the Beta since February, maybe that's why you were not asked to enter it. Any maybe it won't ask me either. Maybe the people this happened to did something diffeerent.

So, Mjoll, are you saying that you still just have one XIV Service Account (still) and are able to play on either PS3 or PC?

Are you guys able to play the same new character you've created in Beta on both the PC and PS3? I created a new char on Coeurl and did receive my Garlond Goggles via mail delivery. I would expect I could play that same character on PS3 if I set this up right.

ONE OTHER REALLY important question - can you log into your SE account and tell me exactly where does your PSN link/registration show up? Does it show up like on that first page where with the Security Token shows up, as an account wide thing?

So far all I did was enter the "PlayStation®3 Promotion Code". After that I was being prompted to link my PSN (and I presume after that, begin downloading). I didn't proceed with that yet, pending more information, because I was afraid I would permanently attach my PSN somewhere that would not let me later attach my 1.0 account and the PS3 retail version code.

Thanks for the info, I may keep bugging you! REALLY APPRECIATE THE INFO!

Wait.. So you have the PS3 beta but didn't have to register the code? How did you even download it? You have to redeem the code first, then it takes you to the client download. >_>

Did you get a PS3 Beta code, Pwn? Did you read my above post? The first code you have to enter is the PS3 Promotion Code. I haven't proceed past that point but it seemed as if I'd be linking my PSN next and maybe once you link your PSN it knows your SE account and knows if you are already in Beta? Then maybe doesn't prompt you for the other code?

I'm still full of questions before proceeding. I'd like to especially know where the PSN account link appears in your SE Account information.

Yeah after you choose you have an existing account, you don't need to enter the beta code. It'll link your PSN and SE account and then it takes you to the client download. And you're done.

I checked my account services and the PS3 beta hasn't shown up yet, but I am assuming it'll show after I actually play it on the PS3? I dunno yet but I have it downloaded and ready to go.

But if you're worried about it saving over your account info and replacing your PC account with PS3, it won't. It only adds that option to it. So you can play between both PS3 and PC.
