Final Fantasy XIV being the center of the universe?

I'm honestly happy that they're only adding very small references to other FF titles, like mounts, names, items and mobs. I want FFXIV to feel like a game on its own and that is a part of the FF lineage. I'd rather end up seeing FFXIV npc's eventually make a cameo in other future fanservice titles like Kingdom Hearts or Dissidia. Instead of turning FFXIV into another kingdom hearts or dissidia.

Basically I want it to be in the same regards as FFXI. Where npc's like Prishe and Shantotto ended up in Dissidia.

I don't mind fan service, but don't kill the lore of the game with it. Disguise them as easter eggs, or something, but don't bluntly put Sephiroth in the game like most people are asking them to do.

for the lack of me sounding like a fanboy.... with how much rage i had over TKAR.... id love to see them do a sephiroth fight on par with that fights difficulty as an achievement fight with no real merit to the game.

Too much fan service would really make the game cheesy and dated. No thank you. Let this game stand on it's own merit. Each Final Fantasy is supposed to bring something of it's own flavor to the franchise. Originality > fan service. And to anyone who disagrees, Kingdom Hearts is that way. --->

dude... admittedly KH was the epitome of fanservice, but you cannot deny its freaking awesomeness.

Yeah but you knew what you were getting with KH. With FFXIV a lot of people want to be immersed in that world. Recurring names like Cid, summons, Chocobos, etc are really enough fanservice IMHO.

True. But then again it wasn't a Final Fantasy title. It was it's own entity. A game made by Disney with Square Enix characters in it with different storylines than what they had. Simba and Bambi are summons. And you fight with giant sharp keys wielded as swords. Fanservice in that game would arguably make more sense, or at least about as much as the rest of the game. lol

P.S.: Yes, Kingdom Hearts is awesome.

Don't quote me on this, but I do sorta remember Yoshi saying Skrimish as a way to visit old Final Fantasy Bosses, so thats always a plus. I always wanted to kill Ozma.

I just don't know. It's not a deal breaker for me by any means. I'd just rather have that fan service separate from the actual game. Perhaps like Tetra Master was in XI?

I don't see no issue of FFXIV adding stuff from other FF. Remember yoshi-p did say he want to do this and he already have and we don't mind. I don't think yoshi-p would just one day put Sephiroth into the game without any information. but in a way Sephiroth is already in FFXIV Nael van Darnus did in a way take that role lol.
