Yoshi-P is making 14 into a fanservice game, which is why they give us that little nostalgia trip at the start.

I'm kinda glad about that one though, I don't think areas an characters from other games will work in 14, but sliding some components in like they have been that can fit into the world works well imo.

I fixed that sentence for you.
I'm honestly happy that they're only adding very small references to other FF titles, like mounts, names, items and mobs. I want FFXIV to feel like a game on its own and that is a part of the FF lineage. I'd rather end up seeing FFXIV npc's eventually make a cameo in other future fanservice titles like Kingdom Hearts or Dissidia. Instead of turning FFXIV into another kingdom hearts or dissidia.
Basically I want it to be in the same regards as FFXI. Where npc's like Prishe and Shantotto ended up in Dissidia.

I agree. I think what we've seen in trailers are just the elements that SCREAM Final Fantasy. In reality I expect it to basically do what FFIX did, but in MMO form: have enough throwback elements to really pick at our nostalgia while tying them into its own world.I fixed that sentence for you.
