If i am a returning player, and choose Thm as my starting class, can i still choose Limsa as my Grand Company? Does the town you start in effect anything if you already have all jobs leveled? If i have everything leveled and want to start as arcanist how do i choose that as starting class? Do we have to remodel and choose a server in phase 4? or can we play phase 4 and choose later?

Yes.

You choose it.

World Transfer applications start on phase 3 and the transfer gets executed at the start of phase 4. You will not be able to remodel until the official release of the game.

When logging into FFXIV: ARR for the first time, your starting city will be determined by the starting class you choose.

...seems to contradict that notion now.

Grand Company and starting city have never been tied together, not in 1.0, and won't be in ARR. You can start in one city and join a different city's Grand Company.

However, apparently in ARR (even with already leveled 1.0 Legacy characters) our Starting City will be determined by the class we choose. And so... I'll "start" as my 50 WHM (which I would have anyway, and did in 1.0) to cement Gridania as my starting city, once again.

Also, I guess we'll also have to re-choose a Grand Company.

Version 1.0 characters will be required to progress through the main scenario quests in order to enlist in a Grand Company.

Players will have the opportunity to choose a different Grand Company.

Ranks and Company Seals
Ranks and company seals will be restored to players upon reenlisting in their original Grand Company. Players who choose a different Grand Company will receive no such benefits.

I've already progressed through the entire main scenario... I guess they mean a new main scenario?

Yeah, the story will be completely different, so once you get through it far enough you'll be able to choose a GC. Any GC points you had in 1.0 will remain saved, so if you pick a different GC than you were in than 1.0 you'll still have those points should you choose to swap back to it at some point.

I don't think that there was ever an intention of letting you keep your seals in switching grand companies.

If you switch from Company A --> B then later on go back to A you should still have the same seals you had before switching to B. Or they could make it that when you switch they convert half your seals to B seals.

But there really not information on that i'm just saying that they could simple let you keep your seals from A and if you every go back to A the same amount you had would stay like in FFXI.

It's safe to assume that if you do go back to your initial Grand Company after choosing a different one at the start of service, there's no way you're getting back your rank and seals.

It's like, why regain your status after alleging yourself with another GC? It's like treason, lol. You have to earn it back.
