Sorry--let me clarify. While I may want red mage, I do understand that there is a need for specific role fulfillment. As I asked in my ending question. I would love to see the 'basic' jobs put into the game first. But the game needs a second healer, and maybe another support dd. I am assuming what party roles are needed here, with our current class/job setup: If Summoner is a support dd, and Scholar a healer, that's great! That means we've got two healers (WHM, SCH), 2 melee DD's (DRG, MNK), 2 tanks (PLD, WAR), 2 support (BRD, SMN), and a Mage DD (BLM)If they added red mage in as a healer? I'd be rather frustrated. I'm sorry, when I posted that the other day, I was moreso just frustrated with the fact that basic jobs weren't put into the game first, over what I would considered 'advanced' jobs in the 'Final Fantasy' scheme of things. We need more of certain roles first.

I am curious if we'll see two new classes as well. However, Scholar is generally, at least to the FFXI crowd, uses a book as a weapon, yes? Summoner/Arcanist has been shown previously as using a book as well. If both of these jobs use a book, then Arcanist being the class derivative of these jobs would make a lot of sense, and mean that other jobs could later be opened up from classes that already exist.

Sorry, mulling here. An example, though I believe it's been mentioned before that they may be making 'two daggers' as a one handed weapon (similar to pugilist) for this-- Gladiator, in 1.0 at least, could use daggers. What if they could take off their shield, and equip a second dagger in their off hand? Replace all of their Shield abilities with a new, two-daggers ability. Maybe this opens to the job of Thief, or something.

Otherwise though, yeah, the two mages were kind of a jumble of black/white mage spells, with conjurer having most of the blm nukes, as well as "Cure" and "Stoneskin".
