I can't believe this went on that long after I went to bed lmao.....
At least the issue has been settled. There will in fact be some free time after launch (as well as before).

I'm no businessman, so I could be completely wrong, but would the new CEO have anything to do with this? Maybe Wada approved of the trial, but then the new CEO rescinded that. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the new CEO is the CFO (or the guy that handles all of SE's finances). And doesn't he take charge BEFORE the release? So this new guy may think, "if we don't offer a free trial, then we'll make X amount of money!". Not to say the dude is greedy or anything.
Being the CEO, he can do whatever he wants. We don't have to agree with it, but it's his company.
Again, I'm prolly wrong lol.
The only thing SE promised was unused "P2P time" will transfer over to ARR. Besides, SE didn't reformat XIV for those of us who stuck with XIV till the end, no company would for such a small amount of players so I'm honestly not surprised or upset by that because I know their priority is getting new blood.
Wow still going LMAO......
generally what happens when a lot of people either have right to complain or reason to defend.
I personally see this as the literal meaning of free trial, which the op disagrees by preferring the 'industry standard' definition.
Neither is technically nor semantically wrong. in my opinion SE is still keeping to it's original 'promise' just in an unorthodox way

~~Thank You Niqo'te
I think the free trial is the open beta
Oh, so the beta is not counted officially as the 'free trial".
lol I knew it. It would be extremely stupid if it were. So, there's a two week free trial for people who already have the game. Hm, not 30 days, but nice enough I suppose. Well, that's that question answered.

Agreed, but I'd suggest removing that quote. Looks like someone jumped the gun and posted something he wasn't supposed to.Oh, so the beta is not counted officially as the 'free trial".

Which it will, as Yoshida already stated in the past Live letter.
