Do you think 1.0 was shut down prematurely?

How much time could copying character data take? I understand it is going to a new engine and all, but still. Final save was 4 months ago, by the time we play our old characters in beta it will have been 4.5 to 5 months ago which is quite a lot of time for them to do the copy. I have never heard of any game doing this, every gamer I have told has been absolutely shocked.

I just wish we had a few more months to play as I was still enjoying the game very much.

Seeing how beta 1 and 2 is more or less stress testing. They don't need shit load of level 50s walking around top of that they be noting for you to do.

So really there no point of having our char right now and it better if they make sure all our information is in 2.0 right and not have missing items and such.

You also never heard of a company remaking there game from a fail release. So ya there you go just think of 1.0 never happen and now we waiting for a real ffxiv release.

It's about a lot more than just copying character data. It was in large part to halt all development on keeping 1.0 End of an Era content and focus all resources available on ARR only, rather than trying to split their efforts into two projects. If they didn't stop 1.0, it's very likely ARR would be coming out even later than it already is.

It should have shut down earlier, so they'd have more time to focus on A Realm Reborn.

I miss 1.0 a lot, but I think they had to do it. Other gamers might not understand, so they should probably think of it as two different games. To those of us that played and loved the recent 1.0, it feels harsh, but to those that never played, they should look forward to a new MMO starting because they aren't affected at all.

If the final save had been earlier, I might not have been able to beat Nael before the save and you'd have to deal with emo messages from me.

They had actually tried to keep the servers up...though new data wouldnt have been saved. They had said if interest was maintained, they would have kept them up even longer. But in the end it was nothing more than a ghost town. But, it also works out that they can put even more focus on ARR.

I just cant wait for the re-release already! :3
