Regional servers are happening. Should have been [/thread] a long, long time ago.

No leeching, No PL'ing, just 100% playing the game.
Just think about the Atomos event right now. It's not a cross server content like any instanced raid or quest.
Again, prime time issue remains. I remember reading somewhere that players will be able to choose the preferred language when using the content finder tool. Now it's only reasonable to imagine that outside of, say NA, prime time, you'll either have to change your speaking language to JP (or whatever other language), or just not get matched because other regional server players will have a preferred language of JP (or the other ones).
if things are as bad as you say then yes things outside of instances could be problematic, like atomos, roaming NM's, basic quests, etc. my comment was regarding instances specifically because that was the post i was responding to.Just think about the Atomos event right now. what i'm afraid of is all this doom and gloom will be a self fullfilling prophecy. no one is restricted to their region servers, we are all going to be locked in our current servers with 1.0 chr's for the first while anyway, etc ad nausium. i think all the crying about this that can be done has been done. i'm pretty sure the devs have taken notice of this thread and there are some pretty good reasons they havent bothered to post more about it. this horse has been beaten to death and its not going to force SE to change their minds. i have still not seen a valid reason to be restricted to global servers that is outside of personal preference. all they are doing is giving more options, options are good.
What about the flip side, what if this game takes off and becomes more successful than the current juggernaut? what if there are no real differences between prime time and non-prime time for player activity? would that render your argument mute and change your mind?

Yes, the regional server is set and will happen regardless of anyone renting or posting thoughts on the forum. I'm just expression my opinions and I fully expect SE not changing their plans.if things are as bad as you say then yes things outside of instances could be problematic, like atomos, roaming NM's, basic quests, etc. my comment was regarding instances specifically because that was the post i was responding to.

And yes, prime time is the main issue that I have with regional servers. Multi-cultures may be a minus but I don't mind it that much. My personal issue is primarily on the prime time because I've experienced it first hand in all the MMORPGs that I've played that do regional servers (wow was probably the most obvious one). So if for whatever reason there is no prime time issue (which is impossible because regional = there is a set prime time no matter how successful it is), then I won't have any issues with regional servers.
I know that many would feel this way, but isn't there also an advantage in taking on content during the less populous times? We aren't at maximum population 24/7, after all.
I am not leaving Ragnarok -- I don't care if players only speak Gallifreyan there.
I am going to keep playing this game the same way I played it before: community before convenience.
And when I die from lag, at least I know the community I've come to know and love will be there to hold my hand...and hopefully raise me, just sayin'. I am getting kind of cold on the floor here, people!

It's either lag or global community. Unless your community is tight enough to organize going to a specific server, i.e. the RP community.
When all else fails, Heck the Bed.
