I understand that need. My eye is twitching with anger. I have TWO 580's in SLI and I won't be able to know my real benchmark because there is no SLI/Full screen support on the benchmark.
LOL
get a 660 ti, run you like 270 or so. Should put you over 7k easilyBoth runs done on Max settings. The only difference is the resolutions.
System:
Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.130104-1431)
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3960X CPU @ 3.30GHz
16360.219MB
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580(VRAM 2751 MB) 9.18.0013.0697
and
Hmmmmm I dont like that hit I take at the higher resolution. What do I have to upgrade to improve this? The Graphics card I assume?

well i tried downlading winzip winrar and renaming the file my laptop wont run the benchmark. looks like i wasted 1600 dollars on this laptop for nothing
You don't have to rename the file.
Download it from Square website and it should already be a .zip
Once you have winzip or winrar installed, right click on the file and choose to unzip it to a location.
Then browse the file for the .exe to run the benchmark.

@dbrewer: This makes no sense. Did you unzip the file so it's in a regular folder? On win7, you don't even need to DL any new programs since it does it all for you (right-click on the ZIP & select "Extract All..."). You can't just go into the zip file like it's a folder & try to run it. Also make sure you have DirectX 9 installed. (It'll tell you if you don't have it installed when you try to run it.)

B******s!! I thought I had a really score as well. while i don't screen lock i have noticed the screen does on occassion go white for a few seconds at first i just thought it was loading the next part but i'm going to redownload it and try again

New challenge: Get lower than 1677 with every setting as low as possible.
