The whole Legacy debate wrapped up.

I'm glad someone else brought up Kickstarter, because that's really a great analogy to what we're talking about here:

• If you didn't buy FFXIV 1.0, you get nothing.
• If you bought 1.0, you get an extra free month of ARR, automatic access to Beta Phase 3, and to continue any characters from v1.0.
• If you stuck with the game in the early months, you got opportunities to help shape ARR through exclusive surveys from the Producer/Director.
• If you paid and played in 2012 prior to patch 1.23, you could get an exclusive Goobue mount.
  Etc, etc.

I have funded a Kickstarter at a lower level and participated in its forum where people have forum titles as constant reminders of their tier level, and they sometimes mention and discuss their higher tier's unique rewards. Maybe there it's more obvious that every person had a choice of tier level, and maybe some experience envy of those higher tiers (that's probably just human nature). But nobody has ever demanded that either they get the higher rewards for free, or that others get stripped of them so everyone can be the same.

Please, everyone, realize that your ARR "reward" appropriately reflects your investment of both time and money. There's no shame in investing at the lower tiers. We're all a part of ARR's success going forward.

I also played from the very beginning, with some break time in between sessions. I don't have legacy and what ? nothing ... I paid for only 2 months and that was my choice, so no hard feelings.
Grow up people, if anyone missed legacy status by a few days ... well, you had your chance. You should blame only your self becose there was plenty of time to pay for those 3 months and stop treating this like it was the end of the world.
It's only a minor bonus, few euro/dollars less and second chocobo ? You can live without it, don't you ?

If this game will be as good as I hope after the remake, I would pay much more for it. Just becose it's worth it and to repay for all that hard work people put in this project.

If he's legacy it's because he PAID for the required amount of time, not for how LONG he played for.... That would be a pretty stupid scale to go by.

Just to make sure there's no misunderstanding, as I remember even this was a topic of debate:

• All Legacy accounts are guaranteed a beta access key. Most, if not all, received them early this morning, if it wasn't obvious.
  
• Personally, I'm not entirely certain about whether or not non-Legacy accounts will be receiving phase 1 invites, but they will be getting invites after.
  
• Also, from what I gather, any account-Legacy or not-that was active when the servers went down is guaranteed a beta key by phase 3.

Yes all service account holders qualify for phase 3, but that also means you could get a phase 1 invite long before others do whether you're Legacy or not. Phase 1 isn't Legacy only and it's also only Wednesday.. There could be more invites by the end of the week, or even in the middle of phase 1 before phase 2.

Your friend probably kept his account active, for the time required. As long as you have an active account that meets the criteria, you are a legacy holder. It sucks you were just short of it, but why should you expect SE to make an exception for you when you were bound by the same conditions as everyone else?

I agree with this guy. SE should've let EVERYONE know about the legacy campaign. Even those who never even heard of FFXIV much less own a computer. It was THEIR responsibility to give everyone an equal chance.

Like i said before it was sent in e-mails a few times and a few gaming sites even posted about 2.0 and legacy thing, se never really wanted to market this game outside of the people who bought it at release.

As for OP saying not all legacy supported the game while its true but 90% of the legacy players been here since CE or normal launch day, hell you will notice most of the legacy people here posting joined these forums in march 2011 cause they been here since day 1 and did not bail out when the game launched bad and when they started charging.

Most of these people that are posting here I have been seeing their face here supporting the game and giving feedback since these forums opened up. So anyone who only played the game the last 5 months and did not help out with voicing what we did not like about 1.0 from the start i don't really feel for you.

True - though with all the Legacy players being in, and then the haiku winners, I wouldn't be surprised if they held off on further invites until phase 2.

Pretty much, it all depends on what kind of attendance they get, and what they're looking to hit for the stress test that's a part of phase 1.

Basically, Non-Legacy can get invites during Phase 1, but based on the info known it is much more realistic to expect such invites to be held off until Phase 2. At that point I imagine they'll send out invites in waves until all active accounts get a code for Phase 3.

I switched from XI to XIV 4 days after I would have had Legacy, I played solid for the last 5 months of 1.0
I have 4 level 50 jobs.. well you can see from my sig. I did all, missions, primal battles ect. before end.

My BF played for a week at XIV start, played again when I started for a week, but he quit at level 15 and said he'd wait for ARR.

The problem isn't legacy/ non-legacy, it's the horribly flawed way SE decided to make people Legacy. I wished they'd at least given all 1.0 players equal chance.

For a lot of people they played all along, for many others they quit but still made legacy. My BF is a good example of this, he couldn't care less about 1.0 while I loved it! yet he's Legacy for playing 2 weeks..

While I'm disappointed I missed Legacy by so close, I'm still very excited to play ARR, and considering how much I loved 1.0 even if I have to wait until Phase 3, I know ARR is going to be even better!

Just my 2 cents because I know there's a lot of people with strong feelings today.

I played 1.0 from launch to close. Payed for Legacy at least twice over. Haven't received an email. Checked my SE account today and there's no beta listed under my Options List, so it would seem I'm SOL.

Unfortunately this generation is the "blame everyone but yourself" generation. Nothing is ever "my" fault! lol, nice post though, wish more people understood that then we wouldnt have all these threads complaining about legacy, It was an equal opportunity promotion, everyone who had an account got the email, if you missed it, you missed it. Just like last weeks sale at he furniture warehouse, it wont be back. Sorry bout your luck.
