I just did a quick google on it to find you "something" - apparently according to the Urban
Dictionary it has also been used as a slur against Jewish people. I don't have any facts to back this up, I merely know it because my family is Sicilian and...well..it is just known.

EDIT: this one might be more convincing to those who are not aware. The site doesn't look all that great, but the fact that this even pops up in a google search should back me up here.

It sounds like "Cumpà!", a Sicilian way to call each other. I think that in English it could be misunderstood with "Goombah", so it would be explained. I don't feel insulted at all, it's not even an insult.I just did a quick google on it to find you "something" - apparently according to the Urban

P.S.
And not all Italian people are from Sicily, maybe just 10%.
Please see my edit with the second site I found.
Direct quote from that site: Considered a slur when used by non-Italians to describe an Italian male.
I know this... my family is considered Sicilian and not Italian. I am merely pointing out the slur.
EDIT: Something very important to note here - if you live in Italy or Sicily, you may not realize that here in America non-Italians use it as a slur. And I'm not trying to accuse the poster of being racist or anything, he may be Italian himself - a lot of times people "just didn't know".

Ooohh that makes sense, yeah, I just didn't see the correlation with the Mario enemies lolI just did a quick google on it to find you "something" - apparently according to the Urban

That word is used in my dialect too (I'm from Naples) and it's basically my dialect's version of "bro", if anybody was wondering
(except it's only said when actually talking to somebody, not in third person)
Sorry, I study linguistics, I always get lost when the subject is even loosely about it so BACK ON TOPIC: DAT T-SHIRT
I've never heard it used in that context where I grew up, so I think seeing it attached to that picture probably made me overreact a bit (especially since I realize now that the poster may very well be Italian himself). Now you know though! If anyone from America (who is not Italian) calls you a Goomba slap them in the face! :P
