I like that we were never given a true depiction of Altana in XI. Sure, there have been hints about her appearance, but she never shows herself. If she had, I don't think we'd be able to idealize her as well as we have been.Currently we don’t have any plans at the moment for illustrating all of the twelve. However, in the Beta Test you might just be able to find some statues of them, so definitely try and explore!
Moving forward we plan on having more things like this that give you a better feel of the lore.
That's fairly common in some modern major religions as well. I'm sure we're all aware that depictions of Mohammed(sp?) are forbidden in Islam. I don't think they depict their God in Sikhism, either.
*edit*
Since there's a topic touching on this already....
Will our affiliation with The Twelve play a role in ARR?

I sort of had my issues with the twelve. I never could imagine them like actual beings. They rather were like "names" to me, or ancient "rites"/cults people believe in. I never pictured them to have a "character", a shape/form and a "living dynamic"/personality/mind like e.g. the primals. They just were totally abstract to me like folk tales.
I guess I'm wrong though and they are actual beings?
I hope some of them don't look like humanoids.
I remember last year, the year of the dragon, there was a celebration for Althyk the keeper (where you could get dragon helmets). A dragon was also pictured on the promotional art for the event.
Since then I picture him as an Asian dragon deity.
It would be pretty cool if the keeper of time (and space?) would be such a creature.
(Not to be confused with the ishgard dragons but they rather look like European dragons. Maybe one could differ between two kinds of dragons (or refer to the Asian ones as another "kind" of creature).)
Will aligning our characters with one of the Twelve have an actual influence on anything in ARR? Is this known information yet? Or is this an NDA question?

They should be actual person at some point of the history. That's why the seen-all eyeball told us the whole
exaggeration thing about story-telling. Also, from their relationship to each other, they are just normal people with lovers, teachers and brothers.
idk, what does a god look like? The Twelves, what do they look like?
Oh thank you. This makes me very happy.Currently we don’t have any plans at the moment for illustrating all of the twelve. However, in the Beta Test you might just be able to find some statues of them, so definitely try and explore!
