Payment options: Lifetime subscription / owned character slots

    Dear Square-Enix & Yoshi-P,
Thank you for holding off on the subscription fees until you feel the game is ready. I've really enjoyed this time with the game, and not having to pay a fee makes it all the better. But the goal with the game is to get it to a point where we have that fee, and I know you and your team are working hard to get to that point.

So, here is my request, I would love for some other charging options when it comes to the game, while I'm glad we have the one, three, and six months billing options, I would like to have to more if at all possible.
    1. A Life Time subscription
    2. Owned Character Slots

The life time subscription is something I would think would be straight forward, but to get some detail on the topic. I would be able to pay a large lump sum, and therefor always have an active account without monthly fees for as long as the game exists. (I'd still take this option if it were available for FFXI).

I don't know how popular this idea is, but I know I'm not the only one who would jump at the opportunity.

And for the second option, "Own character slots". This, much like the lifetime sub, would allow me to have more than one character slot active, without the monthly additional fee of three dollars. Personally I would love to be able to again pay a larger up front cost to have the ability not to be charged a Monthly fee as the game moves forward. I figured something in the ballpark of $36 - $50 for a single slot.

Personally I'd be more open to owning the character slots rather then just "renting" them, but that's just my personal thoughts on the topic.

As always, thanks for listening, and keep the updates, coming.

The reason you don't own your Character Slot was put in FFXI 2years ago or so. Because now that you don't own your Character your not allow to sell your account for a big amount of $.

Problem how much would A Life Time Subscription 155$ is only 1year of payment let's say the game last for 10years that be 1.550$. If the Life time Subscription cost only 500-600$ i don't think many users would buy it even 1.5k seem a lot. But for me i would pay 500-600$ for a life time subscription seeing how i be playing this game to it dies. I said that about FFXI the only reason i quit is because now there is FFXIV and am going back to ffxi now waiting for ffxiv to get better.

My question to you is how much would the life time subscription cost?

My personal thought for the lifetime would be around $400 - $600... And while that would be too pricey for some, the value is then added for the longer you play the game, and the value comes to SE because you get the money up front, and then you can keep selling expansions to that group of players. It's not for everyone, but I'd take that option.

For the character slots, it's the same idea behind the lifetime sub, just a way to pay more up front to avoid the month to month cost. I'm not for selling accounts, but even if you "rent" them, people still do it, so I don't see how this would promote that even more.

400-600$ i would do this myself 600$ is like 4-5years for free and still can play more then that. I have to agree this may not be for others but for players like us who are thinking about the long run of the game i would pay for it. I be playing this game for a very long time so i would pay 600-700$ for it without problems. Top of that now you don't have to waste more money every month and can pay for other game if you want to take few days off FFXIV.

Maybe we can get an Item for FFXIV for paying a lifetime sub i understand that others may think this is a bad idea. But it can be a pointless item like a mog house item, or something else we get over other players who are not paying for it.

I wouldn't hold my breath for a lifetime subscription option as it just doesn't make financial sense for most players or SQUARE ENIX. The fact that most MMO's run until they literally can't anymore precludes a company from being able to price an option like this smartly. Look at FFXI, it just entered its 10th year and its still going.

Besides, if SQUARE ENIX did provide you with the option, what would you do after shelling out the ridiculous sum of cash and either A) the service was shut down or B) you stopped playing for a while (or even entirely)? You would be out the money with little to no recourse in recovering it. I would certainly imagine that there would be an "All Sales are Final" clause in the agreement for something like a lifetime subscription.

Bottom line: a lifetime subscription just doesn't make sense.

Yes it does not make Sense and most MMO never have this it just a nice dream. I would not mind if i lose money because i know that game going to run for at least 10+years.

If anything allow us to pay up front a set amount of time 1year would be good enough. So i don't have to worry month to month that i have to pay for this game. Top of the the click and buy is dumb like hell so this would fix my problem

See I disagree that it doesn't work for the companies, and I would be interested in hearing from them about this topic because my thoughts (opinions) are:
    1. The company gets more money up front which they can use to both invest and earn interest off of the investment.
    2. Players now can play the game when they wish, but it also opens up the sale of expantion packs for the long run. If people keep playing the game, and it keeps expanding, the company still makes money off the sale of expantion pack.
    3. The player base who buys a lifetime sub, would feel more invested in the game world, and buy those expansion packs.

I think that if the price was right, there would be a market for this type of option. And while I don't have exclusive details in regards to what would be best for Square-Enix, I'd be interested in their take on the option.

And after all, if only five players were interested in this option, then I wouldn't think it would be worth while to setup that level of subscription, so I don't think this has a great possibility unless the player base really got behind it, it doesn't hurt to try.

I would not mind it because i would pay for it but let's say it cost 500-600$ that only 4years of gameplay the game going to live for more then 10years they would lost 6years of money of the players who pay for the life time subscription.

but i would pay for it becuase i be playing for a long time as long as they add something for hardcore players to do so far it too casual but i guess i have to deal with that seeing that how things are now.

At the moment i would be intrested in a 2 year subscription, i know i would stick with game at least that long without risk of paying for a lifetime sub and who knows it may secure ff14 future if a fair few people went for that option.
At the moment ff14 is at about 6 month mark and subscriptions have not started , i am hoping in next 2 months things pick up and they think of ps 3 release to bring in more players.

I also just checking the payment methods , is there an pay pal option , rather than click and buy?
Can i pay without signing up my card again (new card) to click and buy.
The way payment worked for ff11 is ok by me but i worried about vertified by visa because the problems i have had with it .
It be eaiser to transfer money by paypal and id rather pay direct rather than by crysta.
