what i saw today could get people more interested in FFXIV:ARR

Theres so much bad word of mouth on FFXIV that I think advertisement would be a major + in SE's favor. Most people I know heard how bad it was and wont give it a chance. If they -saw- posters or gameplay of what it looks like now, I think we would turn a lot more heads. Besides the majority of us promoting the game aren't being heard over the trolls who want to smash it. But that's just my two cents. I will keep on promoting it but I think SE should rely more then on it's playerbase doing the work for them in this regard. Im still sorely disappointed at the not-so-high view counters FFXIV is getting on you tube views(especially when I watch the video a few dozen times myself><)and I think a bit more(just a tad really) advertising would help our cause to convince people that this game is truly worth playing.

I admit I registered for the beta for elder scrolls also. Says I had excellent chances, hey i need something else to play besides the DUST 514 beta while i wait for ARR. Dust already has a shop with RL money, upwards of $100, what a rip.

I've wished all the back to FFXI's earlier days that they'd get more media going for their MMO(s). It can't hurt, and would draw more folks into playing.

Marketing has always been Squenix's Achilles' heel's tendon's weak point. But in this case it's quite simple:

TESO has three hundred million Ameriland Fun Bucks behind it.
FFXIV does not.

If I had $300M to blow on another big-promise, no-delivery MMO, I'd throw money at advertising the beta for my game too. Still, I don't think FFXIV stands to gain anything by widely advertising its beta after the 1.0 incident. Unlike most betas, in which you are basically playing a demo, FFXIV must necessarily change between beta and retail. Meanwhile, TESO can ride the hype wagon all the way to release day; the beta itself is as much a promotional tool as the poster you saw at GAME.

If Squenix would spend any advertising dollars on FFXIV, I'd hope it would be for a full and complete game.

you can throw as much money as you want at ad's but that does not mean its good when you actually get it.

SE also has multiple fronts of marketing to work on. What's the word on the advertising effort in Japan? Maybe it is different over there.

I think the marketing are holding on first because yoshi p is the one who give words i think when phase 3 start marketing dept will push at that time

Not sure about your local game shop but mine this people dislike FFXI/FFXIV. I remember going in buying a controller to play FFXIV and they was asking me about pre-order WoW new pack. Me and my gf just said na we play FFXIV and they just laugh sure the game was shit back then but i pretty much told them off this is why i never buy anything for my local gamestop it's alway the two asshole mangers and a dumb ass girl who could not tell me the brand of the controller over the phone before i went to pick it up lol.

So my point is i bet they would not even post it all the ffxi box was always at the back and every other mmo like wow and stuff was on the floor so it show you what some store do lol.
