    We need achievable teleportation. Yet remember. We now have to explore maps to see it. Make it to sanctuaries to use them. Re get anima to teleport and use them wisely. As the world grows we will need more again. There are areas now that are hard to get through. Low level mobs won't be a threat anyways, but you still need to get htrough hard areas where mobs hit damn hard.

    Green X's are teleports

    EDIT: this is just a future setup I would be satisfied with, plenty of ports and walk combination

    As far as we can tell there are no Aethernodes anymore, so it would be like that drawing. From what I've seen posted in places about the alpha there is a crystal in Gridania, one on the far side of the west shroud, one in the center of the north, one in the center of the east and one off to side in the south. You have to run/choco to most of each zone.

    I would prefer less aethers, but some unique transportatins to connect the zones. Connected transportation will prevent a disconnected world (because teleport all zones = travel once and no longer ever care to understand connections again).

    For example if this is limsa you can have cool gondola river cave network going on, and less realistic but I thought could be a very cool FF idea are these pond hopper / lake hopper ships that rest in large lakes and will kind of launch themselves across fairly great distances (lake to lake). Can imagine looking over the railing and all sudden WOOOSH and everything looks so tiny loading screen cross zones could be special for these transportation (to reduce the jerky feeling going cross zones).

    The problem with teleporting is more then just "too fast travel". I've played with GW it never felt like a world - ever. Even though they have many zones that are fairly large. insta teleport destroyed size and connective-ness (very disjoint - hence I call it a dungeon runner and not a world).


    These pond hoppers as you could imagine would be like 2 - 5 mins docking time 15-30 seconds of OOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHH MEE GEEE as you soar into the air and +short ARR loading screen, and the 15-30 seconds rushing back down with a big splash. +/- time depending on how many lakes you want to hop to (like X to Y, then Y to Z)


    That and teleporting destroys all awesome prospects of what airships and boats expansions could be doing for us.. lol (why wait for anything if you can teleport every zone instantly)

    There wasnt a crag in every zone.
    There was an OP warp in almost every zone tho.

    Responding to the OP only here...

    I brought up a "similar" argument a while back about abolishing anima and giving teleport back to the whitemage. I had an even amount of people with and against.

    But I'm on board with you here. The reason I brought up that teleport thing a while back was because of this same reason. The "instaporting anywhere you want" can really take away from the landscape. But I have hope that ARR will do this right! I believe there's less places to port than there were in 1.0.
