    SE has a brand image uphold. I seriously doubt FFXIV will ever go F2P because going F2P indicates failure, which is very bad for the final fantasy brand. It's the reason why FFXIV was rebuilt to restore to try to restore that image of quality of the brand.

    Exactly. I think SE would rather just scrap the project rather than go F2P. The lost of reputation if ff14 ARR failed (although it likely won't) and become F2P would be much greater than an any money they can retrieve from it as F2P. It would also likely be the end of any new final fantasy mmo... But that, of course, is if it fails and by the looks of it, it won't...
