SE should release the server software for Version 1.0.

Ironically there is a XIV private server out there that ran 100x better than the official one because they cleaned up a lot of redundancies. You don't need the source code to make a PS really.



This has less to do with the fact it's a private server and more to do with lazy developers. I've played a lot of Ragnarok, Maple Story and Lineage 2 Private Servers that mimicked the official releases with benefits, which are the original purpose, to give a free version of the real game.

For example, everything from official works but it has a slightly (or greater depending) drop and exp rate and the ability to auto change your jobs/appearance without going on asinine quests if you don't want to. The ones for WoW is mostly because as of now, like FFXI and EQ, WoW is many expansions in and most players won't dedicate that kind of work to remaking the experience or making it better. XIV has almost no content that someone can easily turn it into a private server and make some changes..but that also leaves the question:

The fact XIV has almost no content, why make a PS out of it? It makes sense for XI where you can easily take a 10 year old game with 1000s of hrs of content and make a PS and make additions, but XIV had nothing in it really. You can still do quite a bit with what's there, but that's all you'll ever have..

XI has original, zilart, promathia, aht urhgan, goddess and abyssea areas to build around, XIV only has original and a bunch of instance zones.

Sure you can reformat the maps if you want but that's not likely. So if you do want to make a PS, legal or not (its not) you don't need SE's code to do it.

the games you said are cheap and simple to fix FFXIV 1.0 have shit coding and games like wow take longer to make a script work just for a simple quest. I'm sorry but making a world for wow or even ffxi is harder then the two games you said. I understand that FFXIV have not much in it so it simple to fix but the coding for FFXIV is just shit good luck fixing everything when SE themself with over 500 people could not find a way to fix the issue to the point they have to ask people outside there team to help them find a way to fix it.

Also SE not going to give ffxiv 1.0 for free to allow players to play that would mess up ARR and the reason behind it they trying to make money not lose it what the point playing 1.0 when you got ARR.

I doubt it'll happen, but I too would like to run a private 1.0 server. Not the way it was right before they shut it down, but as it was when the game first came out. Where thm's had absorbs spells and whm's had water as a spell. Where you had blood surge I, II and III. Really, short of legality reasons and fear of free competition, there's no real reason for them not to. Also, it doesn't hurt to kindly ask.

Rather uneducated of you. As a person that speaks 3 languages (english isn't my first language). All major languages need a way to delineate thoughts. In fact, I know of no languages that doesn't have an equivalent of a period. Without it, it's hard to understand and often shows the lack of organization of someone's thoughts. And seeing how english is my second language, I managed to use periods just fine.

Their was no PS for FFXIV, Elexia is on crack.

The source is locked in their vault in case it ever comes to fruition as a new engine. It's a multi-million dollar server software, they aren't going to hand it over to you retards for free, or at all. Get use to it.

Lastly, people charge for certain services on PS' that give those specific players benefits and abilities you can never obtain otherwise. In other words, you get to be a god for 5 dollars and do whatever the heck you want. Yea, way to enjoy an MMO. Just rape everything. Cause that's fun for a whole 2 minutes.
