I'm a little disappointed to see that the ffxiv community has gone from friendly and supportive to belittling and bashing people with different opinions.

This forum is only 10%(guesstimate) of the community. The rest are out there enjoying their lives or wasting their lives on things other than FFXIV:ARR dababble... or lurking.

There's a large difference between "different opinions" and "opinions" that showcase an amazing level on ignorance on all the topics they touch, expressed as facts on top of that.

When they're also overdramatized, overemotional and written in a way that makes our eyes bleed, the scenario is complete. Tolerance for ignorance can go only so far.

(it's also obvious that the text was pasted from somewhere, given the weird linebreaks, which makes me think about a widespread trolling attempt).

But personally, ARR's gameplay doesn't really seem to be my style.

Then the game simply won't be for you. No MMORPG is for everyone. A MMOPRG that's not for you isn't necessarily a bad one, and depicting one's taste as a factual indicator of quality as the OP does isn't very conducive to any kind of discussion other than pointing and laughing.

I love ffxiv, i love the story and everything about it. But personally, ARR's gameplay doesn't really seem to be my style. Don't bother saying "It's in ALPHA" because gameplay styles are refined post-alpha, but not overly different) I will likely give it a try (if leveling can be done without kill x of y quests) because I want to love it, I really do. Granted, I don't make topics to complain about it because I'm sure there are more people who like it than those who don't. My question is that if this were a brand new game under a different franchise, would you guys be giving people such a hard time for not liking it?

well...the gameplay of latest alpha vid wasnt very exciting, but they wern't trying to make flashy fights, that'd make ppl wonder what's going on, just show what it basically looks like. it's alway more fun to play yourself anyways.
At the core of it, all quests are kill X. the rest is just different reasons for doing that. but they cant make all quests exciting. having those kill 6 boars quests will always be there. Personally i'd find it more fun if i had to kill 100 morbols at lv 50, than 10 marmots.

He said (I think) that he uses MS Word to compose his forum posts so he can spell and grammar check them, then pastes them here. That may explain the odd formatting.

I don't think he was trolling. I did at first, but then I realized he wasn't quite bright enough to properly troll. Then he turned into a lunatic and just kept digging himself a deeper pit from there. It was fun to watch.

Relic's would imply the Relic was in possession of something. Or referring to part of it or some such. Like the Relic's Hilt or what have you.
