They claim ARR will not be affected

Perhaps this is tied to the long-term financial fallout from 1.0...
Then again, Sleeping Dogs didn't sell as well as was hoped either so..

I don't see how layoffs at SE los angeles could affect ARR (that is being developed in Tokyo). The "tipsters" mentioned in the article must have been not very smart. It's a real pity for those involved, mind you.
I hope they'll soon find a new (and possibly better) job.

So sad for those people. Companies around the world have been laying off people left and right.
aww... hopes the kitty, green arms thing, and the cutie fluffy rabbit will be ok
"laid off several people from its office in LA"
I feel bad for those who got laid off. However, comparing several layoffs to the amount of people SE employs doesn't make this even news worthy. Imagine if there was an article for every single company that laid off several people, this would be silly.
Layoffs happen more often than you realize. It's just a part of business.

True. That's why, as a personal rule, I don't report about them unless they are massive.
Too many sites use layoffs as a fearmongering tool to try and imply negative consequences that simply aren't on the menu.
It's not like there aren't any actual news about games to talk about.
Since it's about SE it has to be blown out of proportion and every tiny thing has to be reported.
"Someone at SE has stubbed their toe, this means Versus XIII again, will be delayed and SE continues to fail."
That sums it up really.
just gonna get worse as time goes on, bankers are greedy and run the world.
odds are the job losses are in administrative and/or marketing and have no relation to game development at all, especially not that of games made and maintained in japan...
Hopefully our community team isn't affected![]()
