Place to collect CONFIRMED Grand Company Information

Confirmation from Yoshi-P in Letter XIII that there will be some Grand Company content in patch 1.17, and that the planned Lodestone update will have more details.

Last up for today, the release of the Lodestone page detailing the Grand Companies of Eorzea was delayed a bit due to the earthquake, but will be up tomorrow. Under the direction of Akihiko Yoshida (no relation), the art team has done an amazing job, as always. The Grand Companies will do the nations of Limsa Lominsa, Gridania, and Ul’dah justice as their stalwart representatives, and related content such as quests will begin to go live in patch 1.17. We’ll also be seeing the rulers of each of the companies come forth. A historic set of events is primed to take place in Eorzea, so be sure to keep a sharp eye out!

The Grand Companies of Eorzea page on the Lodestone will be updated and expanded regularly as game content is developed, so be sure to check it out from time to time!

I was a bit surprised by the lack of any apparent change in Lodestone following the update. Official Lodestone update is:

- An event-related category has been added under "History."

However, the history page for my lodestone currently shows no such event-related category. Either the content of the Company info for this Lodestone page won't go active until after the patch, or the Lodestone update was for something unrelated to Companies. There is still the possibility that the Company info will be added live, without needing to take Lodestone down for maintenance, but it certainly is not clear.

It's going to go live at the time of the maintenance, and the feature will most likely be disappointing at first. They will probably make it a core game feature by the time of the PS3 release though.

Well I just read the page regaling us with information on grand companies, and found nothing of any use at all, a bit of information on each company and its leader. Gee thanks. Is that all were going to be told about them, or am I missing something?

To see the start of the Grand companies thats something other than a name got me excited. The picture was great and made me immediately think about having my own chocobo to buy armor for! Or even race them against other players and be able to bet on people racing. I know its a long stretch but my imagination started to go crazy. Im waiting in anticipation and i am keeping my fingers crossed for the best.

Somehow I don't see Chocobos being used for fun like they were in XI. Eorzea is about to go to war. They'll be using all resources possible to rally and fight against the empire, to protect the land.

Chocobos will be involved in this, I think that's why we're currently told in-game that they're on limited supply and not to be used by just common adventurers. I feel that we'll have access to them once we get into the Grand Company content, because we'll be a part of the war at that point.
