Lost faith in Yoshi-P?

Yoshi did something amazing. He modified the 1.0 into something playable and enjoyable.

On the other hand, the success of the 2.0 is still unknown. The number of players will have to drastically increase from the numbers we saw on the 1.0 to make all the ressources and time invested in making the 2.0 worth it. Of course, the PS3 players will also help but the numbers need to be great. Most MMOs have become F2P in less than a year and since SE will never maintain a free MMO, the numbers will be the only indicator of success or failure.

Making a great MMO that will attract a lot of "non -1.0 paying-players" into paying at least 12$/month to play it instead of opting for one of the other MMOs that are free-to-play.

If Yoshi can pull that off + the save of the 1.0 that was declared dead several times... he will be a model for future MMOs devs.

Besides a select few posters ahem Rokien-ites.. I haven't really seen much hate on Yoshi as much of strong desires for or not for a particular feature. Oh and the recent lack of communication Alpha issues* -- but that really isnt Yoshida's job, though he does talk to us sometimes and that is awesome.

Very few people have "Lost faith" in Yoshida, but it's often misconstrued that having a differing opinion than that of the developement team means your either.

• Wait for Beta (Expecting this to be crossed out as soon as Beta comes out as well)
• Wait for the game release

Giving any sort of feedback that the community disagrees with is tantamount of suicide in these parts, people over-react to people giving their opinions on how the game developes and try and enforce their ideals on how/when criticism and feedback should be givin when they have no place telling people what they can/can't say on the forums.


So as for having lost faith in Yoshida...no far from it I have as much respect for him and I still have for Tanaka. Do I agree with him on everything? Of course not. Do I voice my opinion on how I feel things should develope? Of course I do.


Should you let people giving feedback on the game when/how they feel like it get to you? No.


It sure as hell doesn't seem to get to Yoshida so what are you so concerned about?

Honest constructive opinions are fine, i encourage that. what i dont agree with is the "this game if fucking terrible if they do X" or "this game will die in a firey inferno and you are all too stupid to see it". I have offered feedback myself, i guess its all in the way you conduct yourself. Admittedly i have my moments where i get a little heated as well, we all do.

he one of the few people who talks to the community so no i wont lose faith in him & his team. there trying to make the game good.

Does anyone remember reading any of the previous letters from the producer? Well I went back a ways to dig up a few good ones that I figure need to be revisited. It speaks directly to some of the fears and concerns expressed in these forums. Specifically the Matching casual and heavy players and The Final Fantasy feel sections.

Yoshi has been very up front about everything and followed through on the things he promised. I for one trust his judgment and wonder where other lost their trust in him. I think it prudent to reserve harsh criticism until I have experienced it first hand. There is only so much you can learn from a 5 min video or a very limited alpha.

I would really like to start a thread where we an have all the posts of the more critical of us together, then compare them to their thoughts after actually playing the finished product.

Also, think of it this way, how drastically did 1.0 change and improve from launch till the shutdown with such terrible working conditions. Looking at things so far I see its greatly improved the working conditions and the environment and its still in its infancy, how much better can it get or how much more can it change from here?

Looking at his outlines in other older Letters from the Producer, he followed through on all the things he said he would. He gave us Jobs, the AA everyone wanted, sped up the UI (as much as he could), Streamlined the crafting, and the list goes on.

At what point did people stop believing he could fulfill his promise on delivering a better game based around YOUR answers in the 3 players polls? He is building the game we wanted after actually taking the time to ask us what we like and don't like. Then they researched the most popular games to find out why they were so popular and use that knowledge to enhance our suggestions.

Where did he fail some of you so terribly that you lash out at him, his team, and anyone who actually sees a glimmer of hope so harshly?

I have not lost faith...but I do question some decisions that are being made in regards to the demands that some of the playerbase has put on him and his team. You cannot please everyone and you will never make everyone happy...the team needs to make the best decisions for the greater good of the game and for the majority of the playerbase, whether they are casual or hardcore...

Didn't lose faith, which is the exact reason he should take what i suggested with a grain of salt because i'm way too deep in love with him and will probably keep on playing regardless on how this game turns out. I will end up stalking him on his next project and so on.

Feedback like yours and a few others is absolutely appreciated and should b the model for others to go by. Calm, Cool, Direct, and Helpful. You point out something, and offer ways if could be done differently, you still have faith that this game can be successful and its why you offer feedback.

You are not the ones i'm worried about, but thank you for chiming in!
