Alright, if everything is possible on the Vita, it should be limited to 20 characters while PC and PS3 have more than that due to stress CPU. If devs are working on it, it will make me want to buy a Vita because I love to play it anywhere.

    3DS or Vita... Can't decide...

I think PS Vita can make a cool peripheral/controller. It can be used to make quick items and equipment changes with the touch screen. I wont be surprised if they make it so it can replace the keyboard lol.

Or when you're away from home and at work or school you can check your auctioned items to see if they sold or maybe even check on your chocobos.

I don't think they're even considering it now, let alone working on it. It's just a thought for the future.

Depends. The Vita is quite a lot more powerful, has a way better screen, and better/more responsive touch controls including multitouch. The 3DS has more games and if you like Nintendo games it's a must. It also has its 3D effect (but I personally turn it off for 90% of the games, as it's just disturbing and it blurs the graphics).

At the moment the Vita has Persona 4 Golden, which probably the best RPG on a portable, ever.

I don't know what you have been smoking if you think the vita can pull off an mmo like FF XIV.

    The OP is correct.

Pixel for Pixel, the Vita is nearly as powerful as a PS3. Several gaming companies (Konami, for instance) have confirmed this.

And Yoshi-P has stated that the new FFXIV engine is "highly scalable".

From this, can we assume that the Vita could run a 'trimmed down' (less chars on screen, lower texture res, etc)port of the PS3 version?

I'd say the answer is almost certainly a 'Yes'.

However, there's a much more important factor to consider...

Are there enough Vita users who are ALSO FF/MMO fans, (current or potential) to make a Vita port worth the required investment of resources? (The sales of the upcoming FFX HD for Vita might give us a hint)

My guess is probably not. At least not yet.

Hopefully as time goes on, the userbase will grow, but as it stands now -- unless Sony wants to partner in covering the development costs -- I just don't see it happening.

And that's a shame, because the Vita is a fantastic system, and FFXIV would an be awesome first MMO for it.

I have littlebigplanet Vita and Littlebigplanet 2 on PS3. Both are pretty much the same game but Vita takes 3x the time to load a level.

Thats only with PSV actually loading the data on its hardware but if you use Remote Play you could play FFXIV on your ps3 by using your vita using internet wifi. Theres still limitation but would need to make UI to the vita such as...

    Back touchscreen R2/L1
Use of the touch keyboard UI on the Vita.

Remote play be only way to play ffxiv on the vita. Would also have to hack your ps3/vita for you to do this or Sony would have to remove the Lock from this feature.

I just need to know what Vita CPU is exactly before I will probably calm... My Geforce GTX 650 can handle everything fine even on the max settings, however, my CPU wasn't. It was 3.2 GHz (2 cores) and 7MB L2 cache so I upgraded it to 3.4 GHz (4 cores) and 6MB L2 cache. Now, it's much much better in Ul'han with almost no-lag. Like I said above if everything is possible on the Vita as Yoshi-P stated that (I think? A link would be nice) as long as I don't want to hear devs "Sorry we can't do it cuz of Vita limitation."

Recently sega is working on a new pso for the vita. So that given vita users interest for portable MMO's it. Depending how it sells SE may decide to port it to ps vita also...

PS Vita CPU is a ARM processor like every other portable on the market thats the limitation there, they would have to rewrite chunks or the whole game engine.
ps3 has a power PC(which is gonna die in the future) & the vita has Arm9 and that can suck for a programmer on a game like this since the cache is vrtual addressing. sony kinda shot them selfs in the foot doing that. maybe the ps4 will have that super nvidia Arm cpu people keep talking about.

should be easy to port the PS3 version to the wii-u since thats a PowerPc too.
